Has anyone done water changes with different salt and seen improvements after noticing that they were using the salt from Turkey? I'm about to do a 50% water change with the blue bucket and really hoping that this will get me on a better path with my corals. I lost 5 colonies and twice as many frags since Dec.
I was effected by the Turkey salt. It made a mess of my mixing tank with a thick brown sludge left on the bottom. But I saw no obvious negative effect on my corals that could not be explained. I did have an issue with corals in December but an ICP test proved it was high Nickel and Zinc. Seems one of my grabber tools was badly rusting. No iron in the water but that gets taken up fairly quickly by bacteria.

Bottom line: it made a mess of my mixer vat but doesn't seem to have caused any harm. I'm not sure what to make of all these catastrophe stories. FYI I have switched to Brightwell Neo for now

I mix 200 gallons at a time and do daily auto water changes. Takes about 1 month to get thru the 200 gallons and by time I get to bottom the black is there
HMM, I am not sure if I can duplicate that without bringing in my 200 gal mixing station. I still have over 50 gals of saltwater in it and enough HW Marine to bring it back to 100 percent full. I wonder, and maybe its a stab at it, BUT, most comparisons have been done in a 5 gal bucket, maybe to duplicate it, it needs to be mixed in at least a 100 gal container and done over a month or so.

@Lou Ekus, it may be something to look into. The mixing and the size of the mixing station and how long it sits.

Just checked, and, the mix in the 5 gal bucket is crystal clear in less than a hour.

And that's at a salinity of 1.035, YEA, I need to learn how is mixes.

I can mix a batch in a 33 gal Brute trash can to see if I am duplicate the same, BUT, its my mix. If it doesn't happen then I am rigging it, and, if it does then TM has some answering to do. The problem is to do it honestly. If anyone has some left over from said issue, AND, I have only seen 2, please send me enough salt mix so I check it over a 30 day period in a 33 gal Brute trash can.

The whole point is we are innocent until proven guilty. If TM messed up, then its on them and they will correct it.

If this is an HONEST mistake, then this is were we reefers need to help TM.

Weird, it's always exactly 1/2 cup per gallon for me to be dead on 1.025 (using the TM hydrometer)
I am used to mixing a different brand.;Facepalm;Hilarious

Different salt mixes do mix at a different amount. I just need to learn it.

One thing I didn’t note but did notice that I do not heat the water and my basement is little colder then rest of house so when mixing and after mixed water is about 60-62 degrees. Directions say heat water to 70-76 or something like this. Then add salt.

LOL, mines in the basement, which runs a little bit cooler...LOL!!!

My mixing station is in the basement and usually runs between 75.8 and 78.

Hmm I wonder if the 10-15 degree lower temp could make the difference

This is where we ALL reefers can help TM. We are already a niche hobby. We are ALL being scrutinized by the few that try to gain office in every single country. Yea, I know it sounds political, BUT, its not.

The point is we all need to help each other and help this hobby. I know this may be a bit off topic, BUT is it. It doesn't matter if its a single reefer or a vendor, we just need to help each other in becoming better and also help Vendors that supply the means to do so.

This was my 1st mix, so lets see.

@Lou Ekus, this is were WE, meaning myself and other reefers, need to help TM.

This is where TM need total specifics. This is were ALL can help them.

It does not matter how important or not, ALL parameters are needed.

Temp
Salinity at time of mixing
ALk
Cal
Mag
environment of mixture
How were you filling when mixing...LOL!!! ;Hilarious ;Hilarious ;Hilarious

Are you starting to get the point? ;) :)

So has anyone been credited by BRS yet? I received a response from them saying I would be several days ago, but it hasn't actually happened yet. Anyone else received it yet? I am waiting to put that credit toward a different salt, and don't have any other salt laying around right now so I'm saltless until I get that credit...
Same here, no credit yet and It's been since Monday... What is going on @Bulk Reef Supply?

I mix in a 5 gal bucket and after the first mix with the Turkish salt i could wipe brown slime off the walls. My prior box from Turkey left no brown sludge but an oil slick on the surface of the water - and then to my tank. I think its very batch dependent out of Turkey with multiple quality issues.

Just trying to be honest in every single way. SO FAR, I have not seen any issue in my controlled 5 gal bucket.

Agree, their may be a specific batch, thus the specifics when reporting to TP.

I just mixed a fresh batch of TM Pro that was manufactured from Germany. This is a fresh bucket as I just used up my last bucket from Germany. This time, I’m seeing noticeable particulates. The last bucket from Germany mixed clean. I should also note that I had just cleaned out my barrel right before this batch.

Same here. I was ask about the box and I explained to them the box is gone, but you have my order number..I told them there are others that did not keep the boxes…that was a few days ago and now crickets…I’m not expected anything nor would I be too upset but when BRS completion doesn’t ask for the box, it makes me go their route for my future orders..

Exactly what I did working with Lou. After using everything that was cleaned with vinegar my only problem was the very strong chalk smell in the 44 lb box from Turkey.
