Procrastinating Reefers are the worst!

Normally -- No. I do things early, specifically BECAUSE I'm lazy... Hear me out here.

If you do your work early it gets done quickly. So yeah, you're putting in more work immediately, but it gives you more room to be lazy later, because the work is done.

But lately... Yes. I stretched in February and pinched a nerve... Amazingly, I'm still struggling to walk for more than 30-45 minutes at a time, my leg is still deadish, and I'm spending about 18 hours per day in bed right now because my hip/back can't take much activity. Can't even stand for an hour honestly. It sucks. Because of that... some things have fallen off a bit. I still do them, but not with that "get it done now so I can relax later" enthusiasm. It's more of a "I'll do it before it sounds like it's breaking" now.

I do not prefer this method.

We aren't sure if this is the kind of pinched nerve that needs surgery, or if it will work itself out.

Panduit raceways look cool in photos, but what really, really REALLY matters is wire labels. And if you use an Apex (or other controller), a label on the power cord for the device as well as a label on the power distribution bank (PowerBar in Apex parlance). My wiring is generally not all that well organized, just randomly tied up with plastic-coated bread ties (don't use zip-ties - you'll just wind up cutting them). Nevertheless, I can instantly locate any particular device that I need to unplug for maintenance purposes, and instantly locate where it needs to be plugged back in afterwards so that the Apex programming is correct for the device.

If you're -ahem- "frugal", blue painter's tape and a sharpie does the trick. In my case, I use a label maker because they're cheap and are vastly improved over the old wheel-type letter block press labelers that appeared in the 60's. Either way, though, label your stuff and you'll never find out you plugged the skimmer into the Apex outlet programmed for a heater ever again (DAMHIKT!).

I'll start off by saying that I am the worst when it comes to certain "reefing tasks." For me I'm the worst at managing my equipment wires, turning snails over and general cleanup tasks! Right now though the main thing is the wiring to and from my controller!! AHHH!!!!

What about you? What do you procrastinate in doing when it comes to your saltwater reef aquarium?

I really need to get my wires looking nice like @mknightryder has here!

Thank God for GFIC, TIME DELAY FUSES, DISCONNECT BOXES. If water gets to my mess(of wires), they kick in(GFIC,fuses,etc....).
And yes, wire labels a must. I just haven't done it. Yet.

I have labeled my heaters, skimmer pump, return pump and ATO. My birds nest isn't that bad.

The fish cubes have been thawing for an hour as I write this.
My new DIY sump has been resting in the garage for a year while I try and recall where I put the new fittings,

Gluing corals...I have an entire thread on how much I hate being shorter with a deep tank. The frags will grow larger than me before I submerse myself and attach them to the rocks towards the bottom of the tank. I'm a horrible procrastinator about it. I would like to think that a year from now, I'll be better about it. We can only strive to improve a little at a time.

I really have nothing to procrastinate about. My system is really simple, no controllers, no dosers etc....
I have a skimmer and a return pump in my sump. My lights are on WiFi timers. A scoop of alk and cacium twice a day. And feed the fish in the evening.

I am good about weekly water changes, equipment maintenance, testing and such. But there is always something else to do and procrastinate over. I recently documented the procedure to hook up our emergency generator to my Reef (label and color-code the connections etc..) so that my wife could drag me on vacation (kicking and screaming of course). My name is Rich and I have a problem...

I do love the clean look with all of the wiring nice and tidy. But my tank has evolved so much equipment-wise over the last 2 years that I've gone from tidy, to rat's nest and back again too many times to count.

Yea I’m good with making my water for a water change. It’s the changing part that usually takes awhile. I know it’s time to do my water change when my wife says “how much longer is this garbage can going to sit in the living room???”

My wife won't let me near zip ties anymore. She also confiscated my pocketknife for the same reason. Let's just say a 2am emergency room visit just because I didn't have scissors nearby has led to certain rules being applied to me. Luckily I still have my Leatherman multitool
