Protein Skimmer For 10g Nano

not needed at all. weekly water changes will do more than a protein skimmer ever will... but if you really want one.... tunze doc 9001

I was kind of looking more on the cheaper side.
It cause I feed all my corals daily. My Nitrates right now are around 6ppm.
I forgot the phosphate but it's a little higher than it should be

For 10 gallons save your money for coral, fish, inverts and just do water changes :-)

Dont you sleep lol
Larrys or rods

Which one ;)

I work nights lol and either one works. I like LRS personally. but there are several nutrition rich, low nutrient foods available. some specifically for coral. PE foods are pretty good.

I feed Coral Smoothie, Rod's OG, Reef Roids, Mysis, ESV, Selcon, and a bunch of other foods. I mix it up a lot. I have mostly softies but I also have an acan, blasto wellsi, hammer, and frogspawn, and Duncan

Might be a case of over feeding for 10 gallons
This is where your DOC's will come from

dissolved organic compounds.

basically you are overfeeding your tank. youre feeding more than you need to. in all honesty you don't NEED to feed at all but feeding is always a good idea. if I was you, I would cut back to feeding no more than once every other day, start doing either larger or more frequent water changes, and add some more CUC to eat the leftovers. you could do 5 gallon water changes to drop the levels quickly. it wont hurt anything. I do 100% water changes every week in my 1 gallon.

No need for a skimmer on a 10 gallon tank. Water changes, so let me expand on this.
Now there are 2 single functions to a skimmer
They remove DOC's (dissolved organic compounds) and airation of the water (helps with PH)
Now a lot of foods will increase the DOC of your water. If not taken out it will break down into no3 (nitrates) and po4 (phosphates).
Now no3 is good to have for zooxanthellae algae
But po4 will start the growth of algaes
This is where a good quality food comes in.
Hope this helped!

I forgot what DOC stood for. I know that phosphates will promote algae growth. I have C. Prolifera to try to keep the levels down.

CUC

1x Fire Shrimp
4x Dwarf Red tip Hermit Crabs
2x Peppermint Shrimp
5+ Stomatella Snails

I do 25%-30% a week. I live in California so I kind of have to limit water since the drought

yeah that drought isn't going anywhere anytime soon but I hope the best for ya.

I would cut way down on feedings. probably down to around 2-3 times a week.

Here is my 10gal IM without a protein skimmer....originally I was on the fence about picking up that ghost protein skimmer but backed of when I saw the poor reviews

Like mentioned earlier, IMO a skimmer is not needed, I just do 2gal water changes each week, chemi pure blue packs, and purigen

Also like mentioned, reduce your feedings.... I feed frozen mysis shrimp to my clown 1x every other day

I have a coralife skimmer on my 12g and it actually works. I change a gallon a week but if things get busy, the skimmer keeps things under control until I get around to it. It doesn't work like the bigger skimmers, but it helps. Plus I just think skimmers are cool.

I also overfeed my 12 gal., and could not imagine running this tank without. I have NPS corals and the amount of food I put in there is great. I do 50% WC every weekend, but my skimmer pulls a lot. I could run it without, but my WC had to be more frequent like 2-3 times a week. I have the Macro-Aqua M-50 HOB skimmer and it is only about $50. It does great job.
This is just 1 hour after cleaning collection cup. I get about half of collection cup of very dark, smelly skimate every 3 days.
