Protein Skimmer Overflowing like crazy

The break in time is key here as others have stated. Once or twice a year I take my entire skimmer apart and clean every single piece of it. When I put it back it isn't like new but it isn't 'seasoned' well either. It takes days for it to go back to normal. Was much worse when I had to replace the skimmer pump, that was more like 10 days.

ya i use some coral glue

Epoxy is notorious for making skimmers go nuts. Give it time and it will eventually settle down.

I’ve got the same skimmer and having the exact same issue. However mine is a new tank and has only been cycling for about a month. No bioload or anything yet.

This kind of stuff is why I'm glad R2R exists. I just turned my skimmer on about a week ago and didn't realize that the crazy amount of micro bubbles it's making is normal. Used Seachem prime and a load of epoxy on the rock work.

I ended up emailing RedSea and they advised me to raise the skimmer up until it was not overflowing anymore, which meant raising it up about 3.5”. It was sitting it 4” of water and skimming wet for a couple of days. After a couple of days of wet skimming, the skimmer calmed down and I was able to lower it back down to 7.5”. Now I can adjust it like normal and it’s skimming like a champ.
