Pulsing Zenias

They always grow or spread upwards. So if you place a rock above them, they will migrate on to that rock, then just remove the rock. That's the theory anyway.
My Xenia spread up, down and all around. Popped up all over the place. Zoster Butterfly took care of them.

The Matted Filefish might eat Xenia, but it's most likely a hit or miss proposition. I have one that did a 100% eradication of 100's of Aiptasia in my tank and it does not touch any of my other corals, including my pulsing Xenia's.

I have the same problem, my wife loves them and they are VERY happy in our tank. Even the temporary holding tank. I use surgical forceps to grab them as close to the base as possible and gently pull away from the rock. But yeah, they grow back even if it looks like a clean pull.
Maybe take that rock outside and hit the spot with a blow torch? :D

Well this week, I think will be my week to attack it. First I will try the vinegar as that seems to be the most simple fix. Do you pull the rock out when you put the vinegar on it? I'm not sure how I feel about injecting vinegar into the water of my tank.
I will have to do some research on the file fish. And make sure it will be OK in my tank. I don't have many fish, but I definitely do not want to lose the fish or corals I have. And I have learned that the hard way unfortunately – that I should do my research first
I do not have a second tank, or I would try the raising the temperature thing. That seems to be the easiest fix.
So thank you for all of your help – will let you know how it goes!

Do you have a picture of your tank to see how bad the situation is? That could help us in the best attack plan.
