Pump button won’t turn back on after doing water change

i was doing a water change and turned off the pump while the water was low. when i turned it back on when i was done, it didn’t turn on. i waited an hour and came back to see if it turned on... and no. help!

What kind of pump is it? Did you try unplugging it and plugging it back in?

Try bumping it against something. AC pumps sometimes need a bump to get started.

you probably need to clean the pump. Many of them Have over heat protection. If when you turned it off something got caught in the impeller it will time out the protection. You will probably have to clean the pump (most always the case with magnetic drive pumps) Leave it unplugged for a bit while cleaning then it should be fine. Could also be a bad impeller magnet or other Blockage....

i have a red sea 35 gallon tank, the pump is in the back. i tried turning everything off, but haven’t unplugged it yet...

That Depends on the tank... You need some type of circulation and and water movement at all times.. Usually a few hours would be the max on a smaller tank that is properly stocked. At very Least get a air stone into the tank and surface agitation.. even if you have to remove a bucket of water every hour and pour it back in crating air bubbles... Gotta have that pump

Red Sea Typically uses Sicce pumps assuming it's the Max 130 series

Do you have a powerhead in the tank? If so, your fine until you get a new pump.
