Would 2 purple firefish be pushing it in a 25 gallon? Or would they fight

They will be fine.

I have two Purple Firefish, they are still in QT. Right now they seem to be getting along just fine, but I was told that could change. I have a 75g tank, so I'm hopeful. I was told to watch them for signs of aggression and for one of them to go into hiding. If that happens it's probably because the other one is bullying it and the one in hiding could starve. I have plans to put one into my sump if I start to see any aggression!

Hopefully neither one of us will have to do that! Good luck!!!

They will fight as there isn't enough room for both. A red and purple would probably fight in this size of a tank. I've got a red and purple who have been fine for a few months, I'm now in the process of moving the red to my 20.

I've heard that firefish do best in odd groups. With three fish, aggression would be minimized.

After thinking about it I would rather not take the risk of them fighting I will just get one. there is another fish i am thinking of getting instead.
Thanks for the replies.

Nope. Firefish males do not tolerate other males and females don't tolerate other females. If 2 firefish form a bonded pr they will coexist, if they are not a pr, then one will kill the other. It is easier to find a pr in a dealers tank with a few firefish in there. A pr will have a small area staked out from the others.
