purple hornet question

I have had some purple hornets for about a month now. They were growing fast at first. They went from 5-6 polyps to 9, but for the last few days they have not opened and they dont look well. What placement in your tank have you gotten the best results?
Tanks specs
450 gallon reef
3-400 watt reeflux 12k's
4-tunzie 6101's and 2 6201's on a 7095 controller
calcium 450
Alk 10
Mag 1420

i usually have my zoas in the bottom of the tank..with decent flow..

mine are all over, but have found blue colored zoas do better up and orange/red do better low. i have 2 150 watt xm 15k mh with 2 130 watt actinic pc. i have 2 koralia #3's for flow.

I had it in med light then gradually moved to the top with good flow. I started out with 1 polyp and have 20 polyps after 6-7 months.

thanks for the feedback. Any ideas as to why after they were doing so well that they would just close up like that?

Under T5 6x39watt and about 14" to 10" from the light. Doing fine.
I'll try and post up a pic tonight. Now you say closed up...Do you have a pic you can send up here? Could be a pest issue or just chemical war going on maybe? Any other corals near by?

I had 2 polyps of the real deal and they multiplied to 4-5 polyps. Then one day they closed up and just went away..... I hope that yours do not do the same.

Thats what Im hoping for. They were doing great and looking really good but now im not sure what is going on. If they are'nt looking any better by wed. Im thinking about taking them to my friends tank. Hes the one that I got them from and they are doing great in his tank. Do you think this is a good idea?

If I'm not wrong, those are blue hornets.

What makes you think that? I also have blue hornets and there is a difference in the color between the 2

the center is blue, purple hornets have purple centers

I didnt want to be the mean one. Blue hornets have a big white mouth. Ph have a small slit, im like 100% possitive they are blue hornets not purple.

After closer inspection I think that you guys are right unfortunately. That sucks cause obviously I thought that I was getting purple hornets and I traded with another guy for blue hornets which I obviously already have. Either way I hope that they pull through.

MRA's will be up on Coralpedia as soon as they review the newest pic's. They are very basicallly like Kryptonite's except with a silver skirt. But I haven't seen that variation anywhere else. And I have looked
