I jut went to check on my tank and I found my Pygmy angle on her side on the sand. She was barley breathing. My cleaner shrimp was picking at her mouth. She also looked kind of pale. Of course, I was scared to death and I moved my cleaner shrimp away. My Pygmy angle then slowly got up and swam away like she was weak. She then hid in her favorite spot. I turned the lights off and fed the tank. I saw her eat a little bit not a lot. She looks a lot better now but I am still worried. Was she just getting a clean from my cleaner shrimp? It was almost like she was put in a trance. Is that normal?
Please help!!

Laying on the sand is not a normal way for an angel to present itself for cleaning. I would consider a freshwater dip to check for flukes.

how do you do a freshwater dip?
Get a container(dark is preferable), get freshwater the same temp as tank water, some will adjust the ph so that it is the same as the dt, but I don't. Put the fish in question in the container for 4-7 minutes, then return it to the tank. If it is fluke, they will be visible in the bottom of a dark container. They will look like opaque scales.

Is this a fluke? I just noticed it

Losing color is often a response in angels to bad flukes or velvet.. Are there any other symptoms from it or any tankmates? (Scratching, flashing, swimming in to power heads, hiding from light or hiding more in general, reduced appetite, spots?)

Her color os back and she is swimming fine. I don't see any of the symptoms that you said. What about they spot in the picture. What is that.

That spot looks more like damaged scales rather than a fluke.

That should heal on its own. I would observe for flukes twitching or scratching... and if there's abnormal behavior then catch and freshwater dip to confirm. A couple rounds of prazipro in a q tank would do it.

Could be a damaged scale as said, could also be a strangely placed bit of lymph - typically this would show elsewhere first but who knows. Lymph is largely harmless but in either case your "treatment" for either is to maintain good water quality and soak foods in vitamins (like selcon or zoecon) and observe.

I might do a freshwater dip just to make sure. I am kind of scared to do it though. Could I kill the fish? How should I put the fish back into the tank after the dip? Should I is RODI water? Should I use an airston a to add oxygen?

Does the spot appear to be a small chunk of skin missing or an external growth protruding outward?

Yes, RODI water matched to the same temperature as the water the fish is coming from. No, air stone is not needed. No, you will not kill the fish. 5 minute dip give or take. Then put her back in the tank but do not put the RODI water in your tank, may contain parasites that dropped off the fish from the shock of the fresh water.

I can't tell, I'll see in the morning. It is lights out right now and I just had a fantasy football draft at a friends house so I have been gone tell 6:00. I think that it is just an injure. If I can catch her I will do a dip. Will she acked woozy after the dip? Would a DIY acclimation box help?

Oh, and how big of a container should I use? If she doesn't have flukes, will the dip hurt her? Sorry for all the questions, it's just I have never done fresh water dip before and I don't want to kill my Pygmy angle. She is like a daughter to me (even though I am only in middle school:p)
