I just got done with my first round of fish. Fox face, purple tang, yellow tang, blenny. All are in DT and looking good. I want to start the next round of fish soon. I have three ten gallon tanks with filters and heaters. Two of them have been bleached and rinsed three times. The third one is still running never had medication or copper or fish just used it for snails and cleaner shrimp. I'm wondering the best way to restart the other two? Is it safe to run the filters that were in copper then bleached in the DT for a few days to get them going? Or just in the QT for snails? Today is six weeks of QT snails.

Not sure about the filters but what I do with all plastic parts (no electronics) I bleach them let them dry and then run them through the dishwasher (no soap)to get the high temp water with sanitizing rinse( my wife is going to kill me if she reads this) lol.

My LFS is having a sale today I might go get something. For a quick start just use DT water and match SG and temp as LFS add half dose copper?

Yes but I would definitely get a bottle of biospira or Dr Tim’s bacteria.

Ok started QT on Sunday with half dose copper, added little mornings and night now at full recommended copper the powder brown tang looks good and eating but the six line wrasse is showing stress. This will be the fourth six line I've lost in QT if I don't do something! Do I really need to QT him in copper or can I watch him in other QT without copper?

Of the two fish he needs copper more than the Tang. He can carry parasites and never show symptoms. If you are using a Hanna bring your copper down a bit. I went from 1.75 to 1.60 because of a wrasse just don’t dip below 1.50 (copper power)

I'm using ionic copper

Should I leave copper at 0.33? And 14 days at this level starts now or Sunday when I got them?

I’m not familiar with all ionic coppers but I think therapeutic is at .4 let’s ask those who know for sure. Your 14 day clock starts when you reach therapeutic levels and maintain them for 14 days. @ngoodermuth @Big G @HotRocks

.35 is the absolute minimum... but that doesn’t allow for ANY swing at all. I would try to at least get it to .4. As slowly as you need to, for wrasses I’ll take as long as a week to bring it to therapeutic though I will say my experience with 6-lines is limited since they don’t play nice with other wrasses ;)

Thanks this will be the only wrasse in the tank. I'm a little worried about the powder brown playing well with other tangs?

I was thinking of redoing the rock work and maybe add multiple tangs at the same time? I have a little yellow tang and a bigger purple tang in the tank now.

As long as the yellow and Purple get along with a re-arrange I think you’d be ok. I would start with an acclimation box to babe sure
