Question about Acans

I have 3 different acan colonies, and I can't seem to get them to puff up. I just switched to LED lights and i don't know if i have them turned up enough. During the day the polyps seem to extend really far for the base of the colony, is this because the light are not turned up high enough? I don't want to bleach them out. I feed them about every two days. Should I feed them more, would that help? Just looking to get really fat, great looking colonies like some of the pictures on here. Thanks for your help.

Where in your tank do you have them? Also what are you water parameters? What are you feeding them and how are you feeding them... What type of LEDs did you go with and did you slowly ramp them up to assimilate your corals to get used to them?

Leds+acans = not gunna happen there going to orange out keep out of direct light when they are shriviled in it because the leds are toooooo bright

I would not turn the light up, I would try moving them up little by little until they seem happy, if they do not seem happy after moving them up a lot then try turning the light up.

I was able to get my acans to grow under my LEDs but had to keep my whites set very low. My blue,violet, and greens were ramped up higher.

Could not be more wrong, the acan in my pic was kept under LEDs and I have seen many other great looking acans under them.

I turn rainbows orange or red under t5. A buddy of mine got a few frags from me, put them under radions and within 2 months they were back to rainbow.

The thing with lights is that a photon of light is a photon of light, it does not not matter if its from MH, T5 or LED. What matters is the spectrum and intensity, not where it comes from.

I almost didn't purchase LED's because I read this "fact" so often in the pages of R2R. Ended up purchasing G3 Pro and run at peak at 75% and whites at 35%. My acans have only improved since being under LED's, and I have no idea what I'm doing with my light

Dont get me wrong its an agree to disagree 70 percent of people do not no how to use there spectrum under gen3s , yea they might look nice under led but everything even my dog looks better under leds , people have no expirence using leds and i dont base my words upon an acan coloring up in 1 week i base it on having it for 5 years

Wouldn't the radiation just be based off of the wavelength of light?

I have great results with AI hydra 26's and acans , but have them on the bottom or very low. At peak intensity my whites are only @ 30%, blues at 55%, everything else around 10%.

Flow is also a big factor with these guys. Too much and they will not open up.
