Question about Phosphate PPB levels with Hanna HI736 meter

I understand the conversion table from 1ppb=0.003 ppm. What i would like to know is what phosphate parameters in PPB for my reef tank am i looking to maintain. Meaning for example 2ppb to what ppb? I see all kinds of numbers say do not go above 0.3 or 0.03....i am confused if people are just skipping the extra zeros . So what is the ppb numbers for my range(REEF with mostly digitata and encrusting monti's) need to be? So lets say 0ppb to what number ppb number so i can understand clearly the correct conversion into ppm. I hope that makes sense. I just need it simplified to 3ppb to 14ppb is good in those simple terms for me.
 
Just asking for what ppb # - ppb# is satisfactory for my phosphates levels .
 
I am thinking its would not be a zero ppb of course. so maybe 3ppb - maybe 15ppb....just looking for a range to stay around or close. Not for chasing numbers

Back when I started around 2010 the goal was less than .03 ppm or 100 ppb. This was for SPS heavy tanks, you could go higher for LPS and soft corals.

Now-a-days we know more about what our corals need in a captive environment and the target is above .03 ppm or 100ppb and around .1 ppm or 333.3 ppb
 
well but isn't 100ppb = 0.307 ppm you have it at .03 which is what is confusing me. Isn't .03 really 10 ppb 0.031 ppm

.1ppm is about 33 ppb. 10 ppb - 33 ppb is the range I try to live in.
So 33 ppb = 0.101 ppm Correct? So 10 ppb =0.031 ppm all the way to 33 ppb = 0.101 ppm is the range correct?

1 ppb phosphorus is about 3 ppb phosphate .

So 33 ppm phosphorus is about 0.1 ppm phosphate. :)

From a different semantic, the Hanna 736 ppb meter is reporting units of phosphorus @ppb and reefers generally talk is phosphate @ppb.

I use their chart all the time because I can't always remember how the conversion works. I try to keep in around 15-20 ppb on my Hanna 736.000000000x. My tank seems to sit on/around that number fairly easily so that's the number I use.

The right number is P>0.000 at the lower end. Folks use a lot of different ranges for the upper end but they usually want to measure some to keep the coral fed.

So to be clear. I was asking in parts per billion for the simple reason its just a simple number like 12 parts per billion. I often get conflicting numbers when people try to quote the correct parts per million range. Example is when one person types 0.3 and they really mean 0.03 or maybe they meant 0.003 but they do not say that or type it correctly. This is why i asked in parts per billion numbers... a simple any where between _? and _? parts per billion numbers no way to screw that up.

I think you have some misundserstandings...

What I wrote is exactly correct:

"1 ppb phosphorus is about 3 ppb phosphate ."

That is because phosphate weighs about 3 times as much as phosphorus.

If that does not make sense, then it is important for you to understand. I do not want to give you a "no way to screw up" because misunderstanding what these things mean will, someday, lead to another type of screw up.

That said, reasonable target ranges in ppb phosphorus are about 8 to 433, with higher than that range being better than lower.

I do have some misunderstanding but i am not worrying about screwing up. I was just going by hanna's own conversion chart. So i assume it is wrong then?
 
How about if I write it this way to make it clear what all equals what:

1 ppb phosphorus = 3 ppb phosphate = 0.001 ppm phosphorus = 0.003 ppm phosphate
10 ppb phosphorus = 30 ppb phosphate = 0.01 ppm phosphorus = 0.03 ppm phosphate
33 ppb phosphorus = 100 ppb phosphate = 0.033 ppm phosphorus = 0.01 ppm phosphate
