Question about power heads in my Nuvo 20

Well, don't let me make a suggestion. Your tank might actually work properly.
I am always open to suggestions. My tank does not flow properly. I have a hydor controllable pump on the right and a controllable Tunze nano on the left, both are turned down all the way or things start flying around. Even with these two pumps, I have dead spots on the back two corners below the returns. When I clean the glass or blow off the rocks, I can see debris settling there. When a move the powerheads around to clean off the rocks, I get a snow storm. I thought flow was supposed to be the easy part. My pH, alk. Ca, Mg, temp ect... are all spot on. But I constantly have dead spots and detritus on and between the rocks. I get debris on some corals and have to clean them with the turkey baster. I am ready to freeze it in carbonite for future generations to enjoy.

When I aquascaped my tank I allowed for 2 inches between the back wall and the rocks. I placed a powerhead to flow behind the rocks and bounce off the sand. Then again, it wasn't my first tank either.

Indeed. Like a mutt, I did not allow for space between the rocks and the back of my tank. This is my first tank. Did a lot of research and still do, however, this is on mistake I made. I may have to reconstruct the entire aquascape which may tick off a lot of corals, and my clam may go on strike. If there are no other options, that is what I will do.

can you not configure your pumps to ramp up and down? You may find that just doing crests will get the water moving enough in the dead spots to keep it from being.. ya know... dead.
