question on a carpet

What shred said. Generally in a QT tank to treat them and get them settled and hopefully adjusted to some brighter light. Coming from a LFS they were most likely under sub par lighting. Coming from a online dealer they have the street of shipping.

BTA are quite a bit easier, I lost quite a few carpets trying them before actually getting this one to work out with quality water and treating.

Another positive update! I got him to take and eat food for the first time tonight. A small piece of salmon from my normal fish feedings. Grabbed hold and moved it towards its mouth, all gone.

Seems to have settled and is opening up more too, about 8" or so around now.

Good to hear?
Most anemones dont like large pieces of food so keep them small, they are easier to digest and carpet anemones really seem to benefit form being fed a couple times a week....

The piece was maybe the size of a dime, but thin. I get ya though on smaller pieces.

Sorry it has been a while since I updated this. Carpet had been doing very well until the last couple days. It has decided to start wandering around the tank all of a sudden. It worked its way completely across the tank and up the side wall. Just checked in on it and it is upside down now with the foot straight up.

I have changed nothing. Lighting is the same, flow is the same, no additions to the tank. Water changes are 50% every week to two weeks.

Any ideas on the carpet? It seems to settle for a couple days then just decide to move a bit. I have been able to keep anything out of its path so far, but at some point I won't catch something.

Are there any other anemones in the tank?

What size tank?
What lights?
Current water parameters --- with numbers please
What do you have for flow?
What fish/inverts do you have in there?
How deep is your sandbed?

I refuse to ever buy anything from petco ever again. I was recently kicked out of the store because they were selling aphasia anemones as tube worms. And I told and explained to another customer what they were. And he walked away after telling the employee he didn't want live rocks he was going to purchase anymore. That is when I escorted out the store.

I have an 18" blue like the previous pictures. 7-8 years in the tank, too big for me. $200. Any takers?

I've never kept a carpet but I did just want to mention, doing a 50% water change is pretty drastic.....it's better to do a smaller percentage if your tank's parameters are in line. Doing such large changes can really upset your tank's stability. I'm not sure if that could affect the nem but it might. Just a thought....

What size tank? It is a temporary QT/observation tank. It is a 20 long
What lights? These are Chinese led lights. Blue and white. Blues run about 6 hours a day..whites if I turn them on for a couple hours
Current water parameters --- with numbers please
What do you have for flow? Mp 10 short pulse not quite 50% hob filter remora c skimmer
What fish/inverts do you have in there? Pair of clowns, snails for clean up crew
How deep is your sandbed? Probably around two inches.

Water parameters are ad follows...and I believe most of my problem.

Nitrate 20 ppm
Alk 6.3 dkh
Cal 325
Mag 1300
PO4 .68!!

I need to get the po4 down, the alk up, and nitrate down if I can.

The large water changes I would think help on keeping grates down, but maybe not. I will get a reactor set up for po4

Im not using anything fancy. Not dosing nothing. And my tank has maintained itself very well my nem is happier then can be. Hope ur carpet is doing better

Thanks, it has settled again. Mouth has remained closed throughout this entire ordeal. Main goal was/is to move him into my 120, but if the moving around continues I may put together its own 40b I have sitting. Just transfer rock, rinse sand, add sand and go with everything else the same. May cycle and add more rock later on.

I generally don't dose either, except to maintain a certain level. I had been using instant ocean, but just switched to kent salt ad I got a deal. Have only done one water change with it so far.
