Radion G5 XR15 pro and magnifica

What percent intensity do you have for your magnifica? I currently set mine on AB + on 75% and my lights are about 8 inch above the tank.

Do you know how much par that is? My magnifica is sitting under about 400 par from a Hydra26 and a white LED spotlight on it and it hasn’t moved or stretched for light

If you use the sps ab plus program (maybe up the whites a fraction) at 80-100% and the nem is in the top half of the tank you cant go far wrong. I had one do fine in this condition under an xr15 fro over a year. My nMg currently has 4-500Par

for reference. This was theanemone under the XR15 on those settings Tank was 18inch deep from top to bottom. The light was 12 inches off the surface

I'm going to order something to measure par. Anything you recommend?

I have a mag at about half way down in my 20” tall 120 gallon DT, under a Radion XR30 G5 at 9” above the tank, running AB+ maxing out at 75%. All is well.

Hmmm. My mag is probably 12 inches from the light. I took @OrionN advice and cranked the max to 100%. Reading other forums some folks measured above 800 pars and was fine. I'm confused now ..

I'll see how it does at 100%>. Btw, I also upped the white lights to 40%

I agree with Orion that mags can take a ton of light, so don’t worry about cranking up the lights.

I have 3 magnifica in 400-1200 par. They can take a lot of light but they still require slow adaptation. Don't bombard them right away, as they will move away and possibly expel zooxanthellae.

Yeah this is what is happening to me. It was doing fine until I increased my settings from 75% to 100% today. It did not move, but I stressed it out today and it was expelling zooxanthellae. Thought I would adjust the lights one last time. You're recommending just leave it alone at this point?

if it was happy at 75% I would immediately decrease back to 75% and only slowly increase it in the future if it is acting like it wants more light. 75 to 100% in one day is way too fast. I would increase over 3 weeks if desired.

Good ol case of "it ain't broke, don't fix it". I'll leave it alone. Should I be worried about the expelling? I have Cipro on hand

No cipro. Turn the lights back to where they were. It may move down a bit. Make sure it has flow it likes. I stupidly overpowered my tank when I switched from MHs and VHOs to Ecotechs. I dang near killed everything. My Magnifica split in three and one bleached bad. They all recovered and I now have 3 beautiful magnifies but I do not recommend this method of reproduction. With time, they slowly moved to be virtually directly under the LED pucks. They will really like the Ecotechs when adapted.
