Radions with T5s?

I use the 4 bulb 4ft aquatic life hybrid with three xr15g5 blues mounted about 8 inches from the water on a RedSeaReefer 525. The PAR at the midway point is over 300.

Yeah, 48”. The Radions are 7” from water level. I guess I could always splurge and bye two more XR15s for a total of 4 and no T5s at all, but that’s last resort for me. I don’t mind DIY stuff.

Depending on budget, id still be tempted to try out the Supras over the LETs. How much space do you have front to back between the radions and the front of the canopy? That may make the decision for you.

I wish I could just add a 3rd Radion, but I have the center brace on my standard 90 gallon archaic tank.

I have 2 now. I could add 2 more, which would be the same as just using 2 XR30s. It seems like just 2 XR15s for a 48” tank won’t cut it for my SPS. Need to get ahold of a par meter.


Seems as if my options are to try and DIY some single T5s with my 2 XR15s or go with 4 total XR15s and no T5s. A hybrid fixture is too wide to fit in the canopy.

The center might be a bit dim but you will have that issue with any lighting.
The spread from the XR15 G5 is good. I have to peek under the canopy to check if the T5s are still on, without the T5s the PAR is in the 200s.
The color of the blues does not match the AB+ color on the G4 Pro, my only issue with the lights. The XR15 blues are at 100% with difusers when the PAR measurements were made. The XR15 Pro might not be able to produce as much since depending on the profile chosen.

How much space do you have? the Supra Slimline Dual only needs 5.5 inches. The Miro LET reflectors I want to say are like 3.25" wide. I know i could only reasonably fit 6 in my 30" canopy where they were still over the tank and not on the edge. I had some diy led strips that took up about an inch or so. I could have squeezed 2 more T5s in with the dual or quad kits.

I run 4 Radions in 2 of the 48” T5 hybrids and I just think it gives better coverage.


I’ve moved away from SPS so now I have a lot of lights to make my fish look better I guess.

for what it’s worth, I didn’t find the growth of this setup any better than my 3x 300W Mars Aqua black boxes, but feel like the look/shimmer is a lot better
