Raising Dendronephthya and Scleronephthya, next step, pt1

I have thought of fridge but the conclusion I com up to was no need of it

If I only fill the bottle I dose from with enough for 5 - 7 days and it will be stirred every hour and prior to dosing. what´s the worst that will be happen? My answer to myself - when my thinking was miles away from the box - was - Bacteria break down the Chaeto cells, hence release more protein, amino acid, sugar, other compounds and surplus bacteria, hence feed my filtrating animals. However - the rest of the Jamama juice I did - is in the fridge until I put it in my dosing bottle.

If you dose with zooplankton you want to have them alive during the time they are in the dose bottle. I think that´s more a question of food than temperature. Sooner or later I will try to combine zooplankton with phytoplankton and see if this can be automatically dosed.

Sincerely Lasse

Man, @Lasse your the man. Very good point. Thanks.

Tomorrow I have a shipment, won't say what it is. But, today Air Waybill sent to me, paid in full. I'll give you a hint they come from Vietnam, 18 of them and their red and white. Hope their healthy. Stay tune

I elevated trickle filter, i know why, do you?

Here it is, @Sallstrom see'em and weep. Acclimation at this time for 18 dendronephthya, some very large, medium, and small.

Their gorgeous, wait and see. Stay tune more pictures.

@Lasse, @Subsea, @Rispa , @ everyone

Looks great so far, the first 6 months or so can be the hardest. But it's all difficult. I hate to say it but a week doesn't really show the health of Dendronephthya. They will expand and appear to be feeding for some time before actually looking like they are starving. I'm glad someone else mentioned bacteria, as it was something I found to be very beneficial as well. I feel there are many species of selective filter feeding species that feed on bacteria. With how many you just got I sincerely hope you got flow speed and correct food sizes nailed down as discussed before. How often are you feeding and what foods are you using now?

The last specimens ship to me from 0-10, they were a 5. These new ones are great. No atrophy on polyps.
Imy dosing 24/7, every food imaginable. Filtration overkill I hope. Now a waiting game.

Only issue with that is that they don't eat every food imaginable, they are very selective about particle sizes and even how fast food has to pass over polyps for them to capture it. From sub micron bacteria to around 25micron Microplankton, diatoms, and some powdered foods seemed to be the max for all Dendronephthya I kept. In flow around 20-30cm/sec.

Keep us posted, I wish and hope for the best.

There's a man by the Red Sea, just feeds shrimp that's pureed, like baby food, and of course ocean water, able to raise and grow then. With no problem. What helps him, I think is access to ocean water. Thanks for sharing info

If he's using unfiltered ocean water from somewhere near where they were collected, I'd be surprised if they didn't do better than our systems. There's a lot we're missing In our water.

Had to increase currents in tank, can't believe how much water needs to flow.

Yes, they do need very fast flow. As I said mine were in 20-30cm/sec laminar flow. Some can be in 40cm/sec.

I totally squealed when I saw that you finally got a bunch. I'm so excited!!! More pics please.
