Ralph's 1st "real" tank. 40b peninsula

Yeah, I originally planned it that way to have room to fit a 5 gal bucket next to the 20l sump for an ATO reservoir. Then I thought, let me make it the couple inches bigger than that for wiggle room, and also so it is the exact size needed for most standard 48 inch tanks. You know, just in case.

I did the same. My stand is 48" long. I am really liking the 40 gallon for ease of water changes at this point, but a 75, 90, or 110 g tall would still fit on my stand. The only problem with a 40 breeder is there are some fish you just can't have, mainly tangs. I feel like tangs are really helpful for SPS tanks with heavily overpowered skimmers. Lots of nutrients available but they don't "sit around."

Agreed @Husker. When I first set the tank on the stand my wife tried to convince me to get a 4 foot tank. As awesome as it would be waterchanges would be 2x as large, at least.
I am however definitely feeling the pain in regards to the type/number of fish that are appropriate for this size tank. I'd love a group of anthias or a couple of tangs, but not happening in here. :/

I'm really excited to have transfered most everything I'm planning on keeping (except for 3 fish). Extra stoked about how this euphyllia tree is going to turn out. I've got 8 different hammer/spawn/octo morphs so far. Still hoping to pick up another 2-3 from the LFS before mounting. :)

Here's the tree and an FTS.

As you can see, one of the hammers didn't like being out of the tank for gluing, hopefully it recovers.

I see u decided to add a yellow tang...

Yeah. It's my wife's hands down favorite fish. I told we'd only keeping it a year or two max.
Really diggin that euphyllia tree. Great idea.
Thanks. I'm digging it so far too! Just that one hammer doesn't seem like it is going to pull through. We'll see.

I moved over the second RW4 and the ATO from the original tank. Also had someone come over the other day and give me $200 for most of what I did not want to transf er to the 40b. The wife thinks I should have asked for more, but whatever, I don't really like having to maintain both tanks.

Here's all that's left of it. Kind of makes me sad seeing it look like this.

I need to sell this thing already.:(

Looks cool! Gonna get better as they grow!

Photo dump!
The frag of the hammer colony I traded.

Another frag from a colony I've had for about 4 years.

My petco clowns. Had them over 4 years. The female is misbarred and has been developing a ton of dark spots that are filling in. $10 bucks each back then.

The cleaner shrimp is a little newer addition. I wasn't able to keep any in the other tank due to an aggressive orchid dotty back. You can see the gramma and tang in the back ground.

Rainbow acan. Happy I just fed the tank some table shrimp.

A couple of shots of "the tree". That one hammer obviously didn't make it. There are a few frags at the LFS I have in mind to replace it with.

And finally a few FTS's. Some different angles and looks. Also my son checking out the tank.

Thanks @mdbannister. Just some shooting with my Galaxy S4. I'm still trying to figure out the overall tank layout. Still not totally sure about what I want to put on the center and left rocks.

My latest thought was to do just a few select acros on the center rock and do a few different nems on the left. Versus sticks on the left and zoa garden in the center.o_O

Whatever I end up with I'm sure it'll look cool.:D
