That should work great.

I believe that pump is rated for around 1,700 GPH. Even after head loss, you should be getting near 1,000-1,200 gph to the nozzles (500-600 each). That's right in the Suggested Optimal GPH for the 3/4in RFG. Nicely done! ;Happy

Excellent! Even a blind man finds a cookie every now and then! I have been through several pumps trying to find the right combination. I hope this is it.
 
At 400-500 gph per nozzle does that land in 1/2" or 3/4" rfg? I think the sp4 is 1800 gph minus head loss so no more than 1000 gph coming out of 2- 1" returns
That's a tough one - 400-500PGH would work for either size RFG Nozzle. You may choose to go with one over the other based on what you want to accomplish. Take a look at the flow demo videos below - they are of the 1/2in and 3/4in RFGs at around 500-600 GPH. They may help you decide which size Random Flow Generator Nozzle nozzle is better for your tank.


1/2in RFG @ ~500 GPH would push the water a further and create a more "punchy" and chaotic flow pattern


3/4in RFG @ ~500 GPH would create a more steady sweeping style pattern that is a little less forceful than the 1/2in would

I have to say I am very impressed with how well these nozzles operate. During leak testing and now that the tank is inside and filled, these nozzles do an amazing job of creating plenty of turbulent flow in the tank.

Looks great - The aquascape has lots of potential for some great coral placement and happy fish with with all those arches and caves.

This size tank is a perfect fit for two 3/4in RFGs. Provide enough flow, and I bet you could get away with very few, if any additional flow pumps.

Quick tip - try adding one or two extra knuckles of loc-line to each nozzle. this will allow you to make sure the flow entering the nozzles is not putting more pressure on one side. It will give you a better randomized flow pattern and will prevent the nozzle from favoring one direction of the the other.

Thanks for the advice and compliments. I wanted to provide plenty of open space for my larger powder brown tang and future larger fish to swim about, as well as have lots of places for the other inhabitants to feel safe in. I'll be adding the bulk of the rock from my current tank once this one is cycled so it will fill in nicely.

As for the returns, I had 5 segments on each side before the RFG's, but I didn't like how far out it extended so I dropped it to three. My pump is a Current EFlux 6010 and it's currently sitting at about 40% and there's already a ton of randomized flow from them. Once I get the corals moved and see how they respond to the change in water flow and see if it's ok now or not. I was planning on running a pair of Kebao PP-4's on opposite sides of the tank to increase overall general flow of the tank. I have been running one of these little powerhouses for a year now in my 40g and with power at 3/4's I am amazed at how much water that little pump can move. So running two of them should do well on this tank.

Sounds like have it dialed in - If you can see/feel the flow changing directions then you should be good with way they are.

Since the RFG's ability to change the direction of the flow exiting the nozzle works through fluid dynamics, it can also be influenced by the way the flow enters the nozzle. If it coming in such a way that it puts more pressure on one side, it can cause the educators on the opposite side to stay dominant longer causing the flow to favor one direction.

There are a few ways to overcome this - keep he RFG straight to the last piece of loc-line, or feed it more flow. Sounds like you archived the latter. :-)

Thanks, it took a little tinkering and adjusting of everything to get it dialed in. Of course I still haven't messed with the skimmer so who knows what will happen when I fire that thing on and start playing with it.

Is that return a 1/2in split into 2, or is it 3/4in Loc-line split down to dual 1/2in?
If you could provide at at least 600 GPH to the split, You should be able to do well with two 1/2in RFGs. However you might get more benefit out of a single nozzle pointed at the center of the tank.

Here is a series of flow demos done in our 33 Gallon Demo tank that may help you decide what would best for your tank.

Single 3/4in at approx 500 GPH

Single 1/2in RFG at aprox 500 GPH

And finally, here's a comparison of the single 3/4in vs a single 1/2in RFG nozzle at approx 300 GPH - about what each nozzle would get in a dual nozzle setup in your tank.
 
I have been using mine in my Reefer 170 for a couple months now and love it. Using the nozzle creates enough random flow for me that I was able to remove the power head inside for added circulation as I was wary of having a power head running with an anemone. Everything has the flow it likes and growing well, so seems this simple solution was all I needed....

Love reading these kinds of reviews. What size/kind of return pump are you running?
Also, when you have an opportunity, please post a pic of your tank. I'm sure everyone would love to see it.
 
My 75 has finally finished the cycle and I have been able to move my corals over to it. I will say that these nozzles are very impressive at how they move water around the tank. When cycling I had the pump at about 45% and a single Jebao PP-4 running on 3 second on/off pulse mode. Now that I have moved the corals in I am having a bugger of a time with getting it all dialed in. Just going to have to play with placement, flow output, nozzle direction until I get it juuuuuust right.
