Random Flow Generator Show Off Thread - Show us your Tank!

anyone care to post pictures of the RFG with adapter on their IM10?

i'm trying to visualize how far it sticks out, as i have a birdsnest growing somewhat near the return nozzle
 
Just found out about this product today morning..Any chance we can create more turbulent flow in this hobby without using more electricity is a dang good product especially at that price point! .. I will be ordering one for my seaswirl for sure; I did add a 3/4" locline fitting to the seaswirl which was originally designed for a Y fitting but did not like the protruding look. Seems like I can just add one of these without any modifications! Good stuff and much success

Which size do you have for the nozzle? Trying to remember what the nozzle size for my 425xl

I chose the 3/4" drop locline adapter, but then have it reducing Y adapter; 3/4" into 2 - 1/2" RFG nozzles
 
I have 2 running on my innovative marine 25 gallon lagoon. I really struggled with finding a good option for a small sized tank and the jebao would keep dying on me and buying am mp10 is out of tbe question $$$$$...so i stumbled upon the RFG and doubt ill ever remove them.

Are you just running these for flow in the tank? No power heads? Running the stock return pump?

What you see on the picture is 1" seaswirl connected to a (thread reducer bushing 1" to 3/4") to (BRS MPT locline fitting 3/4"). I am hoping this works on this locline since I've had BRS locline not work on my 120 gallon locline fittings that came with the overflow. If anyone has connected one of these to a similar setup please share.

Hummmmm. To me it looks that it will point out to long. I don't think I will like it.

I have mine with a Eductor and as soon as I get home I will take a pic and pot it to see if it is that long.
 
Here is an old pic of the tank that I found and you can barely see the Sea Swirl with the Eductor in the middle.

I know what you mean but since mine was originally setup with a Y fitting I wanted it close to the middle of the back. However, now its just blocking light from the radion. I have it hard plumbed this was the tricky part of my plumbing so have to figure out a way to bring it all the far left. I don't think it will be too bad especially with the black background.

Been doing a tank change over (from 265 to 450) and finally got around to installing the closed loop with these RFG nozzles. Quite impressed and they do essentially as advertised. A nice step up from my older educators.

Once you you get the tank settled in - please post a pic and, if you can, some video. The RFG's in a closed loop setup can really make a huge difference in the way water moves around the tank and provide a type of flow that other solutions just can't match.
 
I was thinking about adding either 2 or 4 of these 1/2" models to my 180. It has two split loclines on each of the 2 one inch returns.

Question... I'm using a Trigger 40 gallon sump on the 180. It will be running at 7.5 inch depth, which is 20 gallons. According to a sump calculator, with 2 inches of water draing back into the sump, I'll need 15 gallons of the 20 gallons I have available.

Do these need to be submerged more so than a regular Locline does? I just want to make sure that if I use 4 rfg's that it won't overflow the sump. At worst case I can use 1 rfg on each return, submerged, and keep the original Locline towards to top for syphon break.

Also, can the output of the rfg be halfway out of the water so it doesn't back-syphon as much?

Can u use these on closed loop constant flow pump or on something like vectra l1 on else mode?

They do need to be fully submerged to function properly, but the depth at which they need to be submerged is dependent on the GPH you're planning on pushing through them.

For instance, for two 1/2in RFGs at our minimum recommended GPH (250-400 gph) you could run them with the educator end of the nozzle as close as 1/2in to 3/4 to the surface, and have it not draw in air. On the other hand. if you run them at the suggested Optimal GPH (640-670), you may need to keep the educator end of the nozzle as much a 3/4 to an 1in below the surface. You could split the difference and run them at about 500 GPH to each pair, and still keep the nozzles within 3/4in range from the surface. That "should" give you enough reserve in your sump for comfort.
