I am running about 350gph on my pair of 1/2" rfg, and every now and then, it will still suck in air from the surface. rfg is positioned maybe 3/4" from the water surface. I don't want to position it any lower as too much water goes back down to sump when return pump is off.That should really get things moving in your tank - looks great!
As far as placement, here's a few photos I posted in a different thread that may help with placement and depth. These images are for the 1/2in RFG's but the 3/4in is similar but may require just a bit more depth - maybe about 1/8th of an inch more.
of course GPH plays a part in it as well - so experiment and see where it falls. We are working on getting flow test for each nozzle right now and hope that have that shortly.

have you tried a design with no eductor opening on the top side? and/or maybe one with some kind of built in check valve?

We have not tried it with one educator closed off - but may be worth a look. The main concern here would be the reduction in the possible direction the stream can exit the nozzle, the educators, combined with the internal helix are what create the randomized flow.
Running a check valve would work - Loc-line makes inline check valves. My primary concern there is reliability.
That looks great @GatorScott. How long with just the RFG as your source of flow?

Only reason I can't get this RFG, if I try to pry open the locline nozzle that is in my return line I am afraid I am going to break something. I have never been able to detach locline connection without breaking or knocking something over even outside the tank. Maybe I need to learn how to use locline![]()
