Why do fish swim together? I find it interesting that my fish often swim in a group. One or two do their own but they seem to generally stay in the same area together. Why is that? Mixture of tangs and triggers

Interesting considering I’m pretty sure they are my diamond goby last Friday… smhI agree it's because of safety in numbers. It's kinda like if I were to go hiking with my wife. If we were attacked by a bear I can outrun my wife and then I'd be safe.
It's really interesting to see the nature videos that show a huge "ball" of fish with them trying to get to the middle so they're safe from predation.
