Is it normal for a rose bubbletip anemone to shrink up at night or is the something wrong. it is fine during the day other than no bulbs but i know that dont mean nothing

Should be ok. Mine closes up from 10 inches to around 4 inches barely allowing the clowns in

my looks sick. it has never moved from were i put it. i that strange.

Do you have a picture? There is a huge variability in the rbtas. I have some that have bubbles but a lot of them don't like most of my bigger ones.

That is strange....I have a rainbow that refuses to move but continues to fade.

You should consider moving rock maybe.

I agree pic would help....during day and at night

this is the best image i can get of it at night.

Good looking nem. I agree it looks fine to me too.

Mine exhibit both responses that yours have - they shrivel at night and it hasn't moved since I did my aquarium build in early December. I just assumed that it loved the light and flow because it certainly 'put on the pounds' (it GREW). It split over the weekend and one of the three splits is still in the same spot. It has mostly been closed but yesterday it was fully expanded - though small than before the split.

I feed small pieces at a time and make sure it eats it before I give it more. It ate another silverside today. It hasnt been shrinking up as bad the past few night and it is keeping its bubbles too.

It looks fine. I have about 14 of them in my 180 and they all do this. BTW, I NEVER actively feed my nems and they range in size from 4 inches to about the size of a 58 Buick steering wheel. You should not need to feed them silversides or anything actually. A simple broadcast feed of mysis, krill, Rods, whatever, once or twice a week, plus good lighting is all they need. Think about them in the wild, no-one is coming by and sticking a fish in their craw. They are not hunters, they can get everything they need from the water column without any specific help from you.

i have stock t5's and not very good ones. plus i feed my tank very little that is why i feed mine. odyssea t5 bulbs stink at par in my opinion but a upgrade is in the future.

I have three Nem's at the moment. 1 rainbow, 1 rose bubble, 1 green speckled bubble, and they all do this at night. I would worry if they dont open while the lights are on. I usually feed mines 2-3 times a week by spot feeding. Your nem looks fine.

thanks everyone for the info. i love anemones but i have never been able to keep one alive but I'm sure it was water quality. now that is under control.

It looks fine... I wouldn't worry. He's got nice bulbous tips so he looks happy. Might just be excreting waste. They tend to shrivel when they do.
