Rbta question

Ok I now know that they shrink up at night but it didn't last night. But when I got up this morning the lights were on and it was shriveled up with its mouth open. It is still that way. Just want to make sure everything is alright. Could softies bother it. I'm going to check my parameters right now but I check them yesterday and they were fine. The only thing I did was move a few frags around.

Ok my parameters are
Nitrates 0
Phosphates .25
Ph 8.4
Alk 8
Calcium 400
Salinity 1.025
Magnesium need a test but did 20% water change Friday. My GSP been acting funny lately too.

OK my anemone is taunting me. lights out and moonlight's on now it is opening up. i guess I'm. just paranoid unless you need to add water condition to RO/DI water.

Then I have no clue what is going on in my tank. my GSP hasnt opened in the last few days. The nem is open good right now so maybe it took a crap last night. I did notice that my colt coral and green finger leather were closed up today but my parameters are fine.

Anamonies have a very long acclimation time period. They do quite a few odd things during this time (often a month). In my experience, they always do what you described at least once during this time period. Although I have my theories, I don't know why they do it. The key is, that the anemone rebounds and looks good soon after this happens. If they look that way for more than a day or does this more than once a week, you probably have problems.

I also think you shouldn't be feeding silversides, as they are difficult for bta's to digest and will often spit out the majority of it at night. Light, current, and water quality are what counts. I have a 14" rbta and I never feed it. I would stick with just feeding your fish a little extra in the direction of the anemone every now and then, it's less stressful for the anemone to digest and any leftovers will be eaten by the fish.

the last few bta i had i didn't feed and they just shrunk up and died but now i know how it acts when i feed it so i will try everyone's suggestions and not feed it for awhile. i will see how it does. thanks guys and gals for all the help. it is good that i keep my hair short so i can't pull it out. lol

yeah I'm trying to get them down. I'm dosing MB7 daily and doing 20 to 30 gallon water changes every Sunday but they just aren't going down.

its your water or something you are not cleaning....reactor or something....my bet is water....what is your water source?

Six stage RO/DI unit from BRS. I have zero TDS. But I just noticed today that all my cheato has died out. My skimmer has been pulling some really dark brown stuff out of the water and I'm running wet. I would almost bet anything the phosphate are coming from there. It also has my corals irritated. I removed what was left and will be doing another 20g water change in a few day and see we're I'm at on parameters. What are your thoughts.
