I swear, I'm going to commit murder tonight! I have 6 staghorn damsels, between 2-3 or 3.5 inches. They constantly chase each other, hit the surface and splash water 6' away, getting me at my desk. Fine, I can live with that. Did I mention that I had ordered 6 lemon damsels and got these by error 4 years ago? They are also pigs and the reason I have to overfeed just to be sure the other fish get food.

So this last week or so, they have been attacking my hand in the water. And not just a hit and run like the meanie clowns. But a concentrated attack until I move my hand or arm! Try gluing corals with that going on....

But the worst? I came home from work to find 4 corals on the ground. One of them, one of my sticks was broken, snapped off. So swearing, I start regluing and fighting them off with a baster. Got all done. And an hour later? There is another coral on the ground! WHAT THE HECK (family forum!!!) I just righted the candy cane and left it for now.

So tonight I am ordering a fish trap and out those 6 go. I've never liked them, they take up good real estate for other fish but like a responsible pet owner, they were mine so I kept them. Enough is enough!

PS anyone want a free damsel... Or 6... Did you see I said free....

Here is the fish trap. My son in law tried it and it works.

I feel your pain but kind of had to laugh reading your exploits with these guys. Sorry they're being holy terrors in your tank and I hope the trap works. :-)

Good Luck! My first fish was a Damsel and I swore “Never Again!”….I broke that rule with my frag tank got a Springer Damsel but he’s the only fish in that tank. Best of Luck!

I watched a video on the Nyos trap and it looks like it would work slick! Just to rub it in, I have 4 damsels in my tank: an azure and three blue devils. They all get along, are actually fairly graceful eaters and spend their day herding the chromis and anthias like sheepdogs.

Apparently they should all be fighting 24/7, but they don't. Sometimes you win the fish lottery and sometimes you get a batch of a**holes...

That is why I figured I share here and not just on my build thread. It's either laugh, cry or get even lol's

Yeah. I do like damsels. I have a yellow tail--one of my first fish in 2017 and he's good. I added 2 saphire damsels. The larger one likes to flash me when I'm close to the tank but they leave me alone! And we won't talk about the clowns... Only reason I have them is I have granddaughters....

I've always loved these guys. I rarely see adults in anyone's tanks. They are way hardier than the green chromis, and look almost as nice, just get a bit bigger. Once I upgrade my 75 gallon to something bigger, I'll definitely have a school of them again. I had a school in my old 110 gallon, and in my old 380 gallon, and they never bothered anything.
