Can you relate to having a reefing/fish problem?

  • Yes, I relate so much that I opened a reef/fish related business!

  • Yes, I totally and completely relate!

  • I kind of relate.

  • No, I am in utter control when I visit a LFS but I also am slightly delusional.

  • I have no idea what this this problem is nd, if you do, I ink you should seek out professional help.

"You are absolutely correct, I do not need another green stick, but do you really need 4 pairs of black knee boots? I mean we do not even have a horse to ride that those would not even be remotely useful for..."

If it's only 4 consider yourself lucky!

Hi I’m Chris as well and my problems not my LFS
It’s the on line vendors, my husband has started getting up VERY EARLY so he can delete any emails I get notifying me the Aquarium Depot has just received hundreds of new corals, one among many vendors I shop from, lucky for me he forgets to delete them from the trash folder:D.

Hail to us Reefahholics!!! :D:D

@Chrisfish - there's always the idea of opening another gmail account! Just a thought... ;)

Yep, that’s me so much my buddy just sits in the car, but I’ve taken him to every shop

I hope you let him listen to the radio and play with the windows while you're shopping! :p

My problem is I have several addictive hobbies:

1...aquariums
2...pond
3...woodworking
4...3d printing
5...fishing
7... LEDs (not just for aquariums)

@dantimdad - I think I work a job to eat and pay for my hobbies. LOL!

Other addictive hobbies... you just had to go there!

BTW - is your list made in order of importance? If so, I believe #3 is being stiffly challenged by #4!

fishing is for your health sir, and should not be listed under hobbies. That is a medical necessity to help alleviate stress and anxiety, and get some exercise and breath good fresh air. Pretty sure insurance should cover part of the expense. Wonder if I can make that happen for my next fishing trip in May.

@mch1984 - where you heading in May?

No particular order. But you would be correct.

Don't know yet, my dad and I just know we are going fishing. We want to try and catch the catfish as they wake up. We wanted to go late April instead but we couldn't get out of work for it. 1st weekend in may should do the trick, just starting to get warm and they are starting to get more active. We will probably go to a river instead of a lake, try to land some flat heads.

There's a little river called the Mississippi that has some really nice catfish. Or so I've heard. ;)

My house is 15 minutes from the Tennesse river. If you want catfish...

haha, I doubt we go that far. If I had to guess, I would say we will go somewhere on the Llano river. My dads child hood friend as set some records on that river, last year he pulled out an 78 and 2 65 pounders on the same trip. He has a secret spot somewhere and he wont even tell my dad.

Yeah, his secret spot is the Mississippi and then he drives them back! Lol

I do the same walk around the LFS, trying to see if there's anything that will fit in my maxed out tank. There's no more room for fish in my reef, but I still have room for more coral! (sorta). My weakness is less the LFS and more the online retailers (and their weekend sales here on R2R). I find myself perusing the websites daily to see what's new.

I have two fresh tanks sitting in my storage shed. Going to set up a 29 biocube (250 MH) this weekend, with a goal of making it an SPS tank - my CC is already quaking in fear!

@Seamore2001 - always exciting setting up a new system! (By 250 MH I am assuming you mean 250W metal halide. Is this correct and, if so, what ballast run running and with what bulb? Also, do you plan on augmenting with an LED strip?)

I make one lap and if nothing catches my eye I grab an inexpensive dry good and pretend that’s what I went in for.

@Bfaxi - hats off to you, sir! You are definitely a 1%er in this thread!

Hi @crusso1993 Yup, that's what I meant - it's an icecap ballast and a DE 250. Don't know the color - I think 12K. It belonged to another local reefer before I bought it. Once I've got it running I'll decide what kind of LED strip it needs, but definitely plan to add one. Another thing I need to figure out for it is what kind of controller for it and an LED. The last time I ran MH, in the early aughts, my controller was a lamp timer from Home Depot. Things are a little more sophisticated now, so I need to catch up with the times.
