Really Petco? That's torture...

I just don’t understand why people support big corporate chains that state how animal care is important to them when they really don’t care about anything but money in their pockets. Yes a few stores out of many will be good do to someone that cares but let’s face it they will leave and go work somewhere else as soon as they can.

because they do not know any better, and companies push the message of fish and other "exotics" not living long, so replacing them often is normal. lots of neglect and lack of responsibility in animal husbandry hobbies.

Our local petco (there are a few in 15 min driving distance) has a person who only takes care of fish. Had no clue that they had a position like that. It is a larger store in a nicer area in the same plaza with wholefoods and REI, that might be why they have a person just for fish. They keep their tanks at 1.022.

I still think that some LFS (not all) do a better job. I just learned that one of our LFS quarantine fish.

100% best to support LFS around that does do proper care for their animals but lets face it most LFS arent like that either. Out of the many places i can get fish/coral in my area (NYC) i only go to about 4 or 5. Some places also only have petcos and no LFS around as they are a huge company so they are hard to avoid.
Plus if you can get a sebae for the price of a zoa, also great

I only buy livestock from TSM and Reefco. I would leave the hobby if I didn’t have any good places to support. Still if a bad place was giving stuff away free I still wouldn’t take it. I don’t support the bad people as I don’t live by entitlements or because I want. Their is a few good online places to buy from also.
Most of my fish come from collectors and not wholesalers as that is the first place where fish disease starts.

I recommend Reefco if it’s not to far for you. They have a great coral selection

Funny you say that. They wrote down the SKU number for the zoa's. I ended up with 2 sebaes for 40 bucks
