so i have discovered i have red bugs on a couple of my tri color frags and on another acro colony. i have read about using interceptor but i don't want to dose my tank as i have also read about aefw out breaks soon after using interceptor. i think that if you have aefw after using interceptor it kills whatever is eating the aefw. so i am looking for a dip that will kill red bugs or a fish that will eat them. i know interceptor is what everyone is using and having good luck with but i really don't want to kill my pods as then my favorite fish will soon die after and i don't want to loose my mandarin. any ideas or suggestions?

There is absolutely no correlation in dosing interceptor and getting AEFW due to that.

i have only noticed the red bugs on a few frags and one colony. i have not seen any thing on my millis so i can only hope that i dont have any aefw. are there any dips that will kill red bugs or aefw? and yes i have learned a very valuable lesson about buying from the fragswapp i will start QT'ing my new carol additions i thought i could trust other reefers

Coral Rx pro will kill all of them, but its going to be hard to get rid of them from solely dipping. Give it a shot, but best and easiest way to be rid of red bugs is with interceptor.

I nuke my tank twice a year as a precautionary not only do my corals love it but never had a problem with my mandarin or aefw etc... Hth... Interceptor is the way to go...

will my anemone's and clam be ok with the interceptor or should i bag them and let them float in the sump for the night while i treat the tank?

Every thing but crabs will be just fine... No worries on anything but them.. Leave the skimmer running without the air line and just follow the directions.. I believe melev has the best right up IMHO..

My pistol shrimp survived 5 treatments before he died at 5+ years old.

FWIW, when I get new corals, I dip them in coral cure Pro and if it is SPS, I shave a lil interceptor off a pill and let it soak for an hour or so.

Some people think there is some correlation between the 2. I have read quite a few threads that after treating for red bugs that aefw showed up. Obviously they were already there but might have been kept in check by the red bugs or something along those lines. Maybe the red bugs eat aefw who knows they both go after the same meal! If a cheetah kills something and a lion comes along they would kill the cheetah to take the kill so maybe its the same thing or maybe its nothing at all. Treat for red bugs and if u have an aefw outbreak after treatment they were already there to begin with.

sounds like a pretty stupid idea.
just order the aussie interceptor and be done with it

sounds like its working and i wont have the huge die off of my pods and such plus i can use it to kill aefw. naturally it is only a dip but whats the worst that can happen i could loose a frag or 2. and i wont have a spike in phos and ammonia after the pod die off.

its your tank you kill it how you want to

do you still need a prescription for interceptor or can you get them online?

yes you need a prescription, but there is countries that do not require them. austraila is one.
