I'm trying to connect the output of my Red Dragon 3 return pump to my ELOS flexible return line. I'm guessing i should use a 1 inch barbed fitting for the hose end but when I went to the hardware store I could not find the right combination of fittings to mate to the RD2 pump outlet?

Does anyone else know what fittings are required?

You can glue a spigot to barb fitting into the pump. Do you know the size of the pump outlet?

What model pump is it? Can you post a pic of the sticker on the pump?

I would glue a 3"-4" piece of pvc pipe in the collar on the pump.
Then glue a slip/thread coupling on the pvc pipe.
Then use the appropriate plastic female hose barb for the inside dia. hose you have.

Make sure the collar coming off the pump is in usa inches and not metric. Mine came with metric.
I would take the hose you have with you to make sure you get the correct hose barb.

The slip collar is 1.25 inch ID. I will take both with me to home depot tonight and see what i can come up with.

The website says it has a 3/4” outlet, so you can extend that with pvc pipe and attach a barb to that, or glue a barb straight into the coupler and use a plastic hose clamp to secure. Hopefully the Elos has 3/4” hose and it’ll be a direct fit.

I also had better luck at ace hardware finding barb connections. Home Depot has a few, but they aren’t with the pvc stuff.

Only hose barbs I've seen is either male or female threaded.
Have a link to these slip fit hose barbs?

I sent the brs link earlier in the thread

I've never seen those before.
Handy to have when not much room is there.

But in this case I would go with a short 3"-4" piece of pvc pipe directly off the pump with a slip/thread connection.
Just in case a change is needed in the future.

I struck out. It seems based on the Royal Exclusive website the pump outlet is metric and is 25mm which is just shy of 1 inch. All local hardware stores do not carry metric pvc fittings.

It’s says it .75” or 25 mm. Did you take the collar with you to see what pipe will fit? The outside diameter of 3/4” pvc should fit into that collar, but it’s hard to say without having the parts.

Looks like royal exclusiv makes their own...

Just like mine.
Maybe @slief can help

My RD3 80 watt pump came with only metric fittings.
When I got my RD3 150 watt pump, I think I contacted Premium Aquatics in advance and received the correct ones with the pump.

That stinks. Maybe try the fittings from Royal Exclusiv directly?

Or on Facebook.
Sometimes it pays to use social media.
