The RD3 50w pump comes standard with both 25mm metric and 3/4” US fittings. The US sized coupler is 3/4” so you’d want a 3/4” slip barb fitting. I will note that some slip barbed fittings are often a bit smaller than the SCH80 slip fittings and fit rather loosely into the coupler on the pump so thick PVC cement may be needed when you glue the fitting in or you could use 3/4” PVC pipe and slip the silicone hose over the pipe. And some Chinese PVC pipe is slightly thinner OD than other pipe so keep that in mind when you are shopping for pipe. The slip coupler will have a stamp on the side that will denote 3/4” or 25mm depending on which coupler you are looking at. That said, the Red Sea tanks use metric fittings and silicone hose will slip over the Red Sea intake fitting and over the PVC pipe stub if you go that route.

If I was going to do a barb fitting this is what I would use.. much cleaner and less worries of leaking and trying to jerry rig something to fit.

Thanks everyone for your help. I went back and looked inside the box the pump came in. Inside the box was a 1 inch fitting. I then only had to use standard 1 inch pipe and cemented another threaded fitting on the end for the 1 inch barb.

Great to hear! All US pumps come with the Imperial (US) sized fittings in the box! You aren’t the first o overlook them and certainly won’t be the last!
