With the huge list of occupants in your tank I wouldnt completely rule out something may have eaten it, or at a minimum there was an attack/irritation. Cleaners and peppermints mess with corals a lot. Peppermints can be quite destructive imo, and shouldnt be considered completely reef safe. Ive witnessed many attacks to euphyllia now. I have about all the same occupants in my 20g tank with a variation to the fish list. I have not seen any attacks on my discosoma or rhodactis from anything.
Im ny nano I have about 12 species of mushroom. Ive been able to observe mushroom "behavior" very closely. I do not have any hermits, but do have sexy shrimp, pistol, mini turbo snail, lettuce nudi (attacked and eaten by sexy shrimp), copepods, amphipods, clown goby, yasha goby, and peanut worm (walking dendro). The clown goby loves up on many of the mushrooms, and the mushrooms dont seem to mind at all. The sexy shrimp leave the mushrooms alone but they do pick at other corals a little (zoas, euphyllias). I watched my pistol for whatever reason thinking copepod attack, snap at a mushroom frag. Caused the Shroom to expel its guts and shrivel. Came right back tho. Id say shrimp and hermits are most likely to irritate corals, and may have worked your mushroom up enough to cause it to relocate, but could have been flow, light, or water parameters. Did it become a meal at that point? Hard to say if you have a lot of rockwork, but I have not personally witnessed an attack on a mushroom by anything yet. Good luck and I hope it turns up for you.
