Thank goodness for the bag lol it's all good the buckets are just so thin I guess. Already got a ATO resivoir so I'm good lol.

Did you roll the buckets around before you mixed? If you skip even the slightest part of their directions, you'll end up either with cloudy water or low readings.

What are you guys using to mesure this salt? I don't know how I feel about measuring by pounds like they suggest? Anything a little easier cups per gallon?.....

I use a measuring cup. I eyeball it, but normally around 4-5 cups 22 gallons, or so. Weight would be much better, you could mix the salt thoroughly and prepackage your salt to make it a seamless process. Just make sure you mix the salt SLOWLY!

Lol i knew eventually someone would say this. No i take the bag out before every waterchange and roll it around. Dry rolling the bucket if its brand new doesnt do anything. I heat the water first and add a cup by cup while it disolves. I also use it 4-5 hours after mix

I received a new blue bucket today. Box was in good shape. Bucket not so much [emoji107]At least it doesn't look like the bag broke.

I usually use esv at 30-40% change every other month but i was doing 10% changes with the rscp every couple days. The last few batches i got read.
12.3 alk
380 calc
And 1300 mag

The batches before recently if you dont dry mix the salt. The top half reads around 1300 for mag and bottom half reads around 1600. I dont kno if my lfs got a bad pallet of rscp but ive had a triton test done on my tank and had over 200ugl for manganese with my newbuild (using exclusivly rscp) so now once again back to using regular I0

You use coral pro rite? Usually for me it mixes up at 470-480 at 35ppt

Why do you say definitively that dry rolling the bucket does nothing? Right off the bat, the instructions say to NOT heat the water before adding the salt. What you're likely see is precipitation, even though slight, is, IMO, causing your low readings. I've been using RSCP for a few years now, and have never had a bad batch. If you read the threads where Red Sea chimes in, they constantly are saying if you miss even ONE single part of the process, you'll get bad readings. Also, you say cup by cup, are you dropping the entire cup in at once? I sprinkle in the cups, probably 20 seconds to add a cup of salt. Again, you seem to get off readings and mine never vary, do what you will with that information.

It's funny you mention your bad batch because I also use coral pro but my reading sometimes come out as low as 380 but never higher than for 420 I just thought it was my tank idk my Alk and magnesium always measures high

Dry mixing when the buckets full isnt going to do much because of the limited room. Even if it precipitates it only effects about 2% of the elements . i love rscp and have ben using it for a long long time but ever sence i started getting the newer packaged bags of salt (clear thinner bag and darkblue barbtie) ive had calc read around 380 (edit try to think of it as trying to mix an alk solution, if you fill the jug up to the top with water it doesnt mix well unless theres air. Also i add a cup wait till it disolves then add another cup. Should i not heat the water first? Do you think thats the problem because i dont want this salt to go to waste)

Ive never got a bad reading no matter how i mixed it. Unless i mixed it overnight then its cloudy the next day. I dont kno whats going on with the new buckets i have but all of them mix to around 380 for calc. Hopefully im not the only one
