Just wondering if anyone has used this and can let me k ow if it worked for you and what's the best ways it's been useful? Thanks

I've used it before amd it dies work but don't expect it to overnight. I would dose like a cap full for like 2 weeks straight for my 180 nitrate to do to like 30

It works fantastically, and the science is sound. My nitrates went from 40 to <4 in under two weeks.

Personally, I'd bet you could make your own homebrew version with one part vodka to two parts vinegar much more cheaply. I've wanted to try it but haven't gotten around to it.

I use it as a staple. Only thing i would caution you is do not overdose. Start really slow and measure nitrate and phosphate while they're going down.

Works great, I've used a lot of methods. Firm believer though that the methanol makes a difference as there's many organisms that also contribute to the denitrification cycle, grow slower than those organisms that use only acetic acid or ethanol, and it's quite concentrated so you'll be able to use a small amount and not kill your alk like those dosing 100+/- ml of vinegar.

I would caution you though, it takes a good month or so to fully kick in. Sand helps to create more nitrates as well. And if you get nitrates to <5 cut your dose by a good 2/3 until you can narrow down the dose to keep nitrates between 1 and 5. Might not be a perfect place to keep them, but it depends on what you keep and it's a good place to start until you get a feel for how much your tank needs. Approach the dose they suggest pretty slowly as it's aggressive and people do overdose pretty easily.

If I would have just used the red sea program from the start, I would have saved myself 7 or 8 years of annoyances with other systems. (gfo, ATS, etc)

What are you trying to achieve nitrate or phosphate reduction or both?

Have a skimmer?

Works great for nitrates, not so good on reducing phosphate.

Reall a little of both phosphates are a little high and I think it's me I was over feeding so I cut that down a lot but thought I should try to do something because I have never dosed anything before lol but thanks I'll take it slow

I'm using it now, for 2 weeks, changes are slow, don't over-dose. I have a 180 with 60 gal sump, I'm treating 150 gal with 18 ml/ day or 4.5 ml 4x/ day. Don't dump the full amount all at once I also feed before dosing this stuff.

Dosing 20ml/day of Nopox since two years ago. The results are visible in the video in my signature.

There is only one shop selling Nopox in Bangkok and knowing how things work here, I try to make sure I have enough Nopox to last me at least... for the next two years! lol

I've used this for years, found it great for nitrates not so good for phosphates, be very careful about overdosing though.

That's true of all organic carbon dosing sources, including vinegar and vodka. Denitrifying bacteria use nitrate both as a source of oxygen for metabolism (specifically, as an electron acceptor instead of O2) and as a source of N for tissues. Hence it is tilted toward more nitrate consumption than phosphate relative to other methods (such as growing macroalgae or ATS).

FWIW, I've not seen evidence that this Red Sea product is any better than other organic carbon dosing schemes.

That's a nice idea, but I am afraid the LFS doesn´t have many customers buying nopox to justify the order , I will try to talk to them and see if they could do it, buying online would be an option but shipping and import charges makes it very expensive.

I use it and it works fine for me. It does take some time and tweaking to get the dosage right. I find myself dosing about half the recommended dosage. Can't tell you if its any better than carbon dosing vodka or vinegar, but I can tell you that it does seem to work.

It is clear to me that NOPOX is no better from reading the overall experience of reefers reporting results online. I've read thousands of posts on organic carbon dosing, and it is clear that all of the sources work and that all sometimes have problems. NOPOX is no different. I know you really like it, and that's great.

You ask if I enjoy wasting money and I don't, I already have, listening to every opinion on the forum rant and rave against "big bad corporations". Well guess what, their product works, I have experience with it, you don't.

Why don't you use it yourself and find out instead of souring everyone's viewpoint.

You even say the methanol doesn't matter, but there's organisms that utilize it. Until you map out every single positive and negative of all of those organisms, you're just blowing hot air. Not sure what personal beef you have with Red Sea, but it's getting old. If you DIDN'T have a personal beef with Red Sea, then why the heck do you not trash talk denitrators that use methanol? You don't.

And stop talking down to me because I use something you think is a waste of money.
