Red Sea REEFER 250 Build

Six-lines become Hellions. Leopards are delicate and have a hard time going through acclimation. If you have enough sand I would go for a Yellow Canary Wrasse, a beautiful fish. Go for the tank-raised ones at Blue Zoo Aquatics. Although they are wild bred they are caught as juveniles and tank raised for quite some time in captivity. It is a process and time frame that goes well past quarantine. They are quite a bit more hardy at this point than the ones just plucked from the ocean. I think they would be worth the extra money. They say you get what you pay for and that includes hardiness.

Thank you so much for the advice!! I wanted the leopard or sixline for adding some different colors. I have a yellow tank, a pair of Wyoming white clowns, a nice dark brown lawnmower blenny, and an orchid dottyback. Any other wrasse that is hardy and effective but maybe not yellow?

No big deal if not just wondering???

Beautiful tank!!! I like the pictures showing the progress of the corals growing on the rocks.

There is one I might get but it is quite expensive: Mystery Wrasse. I don't have a sand bed and this Wrasse doesn't burrow so it would work for me if I could justify the cost.

Excellent progression in the reefer 250 congratulations @nickenayat [emoji106][emoji225][emoji886]!!! Mystery wrasse is a gem with excellent colorations and fascinating personalities but their appetite for little crustaceans and miniature shrimps like my sexy shrimps, porcelain crabs and my anemone shrimps obligated me to take him out. Then found a “four” not the common sixline wrasse and honestly hands down one of my top 5 fish from all times, independent, not at all troublemaker, super active in all the caves and crevices and best pest eradicating machine, literally u can watch him cleaning all my new frags added, that’s my .02
Good luck and happy reefing!!!!

Update:

I decided to go with a Melanarus wrasse and I caved and gave the green mandarin goby another try. I also added some peppermint shrimp and a cleaner shrimp.

The melanarus is picking at the rocks and seems happy and is beautiful.

The mandarin is eating and has found a nice place on the bottom of the tank.

The shrimps have eaten half the aptasia in my tank in a week and am very happy with them as well.

After checking out the mystery wrasse I may add one eventually. They look beautiful and if they do the work you guys claim I may have to give them a try.

I added two small jebao pumps on the bottom of each side of the overflow pointing upwards. They are on alternating schedules while the mp40s have their own schedule through reeflink and cycle through them. So far I’m happy and they are small enough that you can’t see them. The last photo is an attempt to show the intended flow of all the pumps.

Purple/yellow: mp40s
Red/green: jebao

I have lost some more sps but not all. Hoping things will start to turn around.

Kind of a tangent and not about the Red Sea REEFER.

Anyone know of a frag swap in the Los Angeles area. I’ve looked everyone on this forum and others and can’t find any. I know there’s reefapalooza but that’s only once a year in SoCal. I feel there has to be some I’m just not aware. Any ideas???

Three questions:
1) what are you putting in the media cups?
2) how did you mount the Bubble Magus doser? It looks like you added a panel to cover part of the rear opening in the cabinet.
3) is that the BM-T11 dosing pump? If yes how do you like it so far, any issues?

Photo updates. 18 months. Most corals are doing well but some actos just don’t want to grow. The par is right the parameters are good but still things struggle with various acros. Maybe spiders? Nudibranchs? See below.

1) filter floss from amazon. It’s cheap and does a good job. Only problem is I have to change every 3-4 days to stay on top of maintenance.
2) I screwed on a piece of plywood to the opening and cut some 3” holes for cord maintenance. This allowed me to put the doser bracket on the right and still have room to get cords through near the top.
3)I like the dosing pump and it works well. The problem is my tank. I feel when I was having issues I turned it off and things started to grow better. If I could go back I would get a Neptune apex and use their doser

thanks for your questions and interest

What intensity and how far up are your radions? Asking to compare to mine. Tank looks great!
Using the EcoTech marine standard arm for a bracket. I believe it puts the lights around 10-12” above the water. I use the SPS+ preset lighting cycle with a little extra blues and they make out at 75% intensity. Light period is from 10:00am - 9pm with 1 hour ramp up and 1 hour ramp down.
