Update.

Added some more corals and been letting the tank stabilize before I go heavy with acros and more intensive corals. Here’s an update of pictures.

I screwed into the stand to support the two power strips, the dosing bracket and the 3 EcoTech products. I also screwed into the inside of the door for a basket to get some extra storage space.

Added some new sps corals, kryptonite candy canes and leptos from my other tank. Gotten some good growth with all the existing corals.

I think in the next two months based on how these new corals do I will start to add a lot more sps corals. Will also be adding some new fish over the next few months.

It’s starting to take shape and look good. Let me know if there’s anything you want to see specifically or have any questions.

Picture update:

Tank is moving along and is getting stable. Just sent an ICP test in to triton and waiting on the results. I will share them when I get them next week. I posted the parameters below, I’m trying to get my mag and calc a little higher. Enjoy

Looks great, hope it works out well. Your sump looks really well organised too, obviously you don’t need a chiller. Here is my RSR 250 sump in case it gives you any ideas.

Having some issues with the new corals and the monti pora cap. Elements are in check but I just got an icp test and the results said I have mercury in the water!?

I don’t know how this happened or if that’s causing the issues. Did a 5g water change and will do another each day for the next 3 days. Any suggestions or experience with this.

I’ll add some pics of the struggling corals soon. Any advice on how to help them bounce back.

Triton sent me an “updated analysis” today. And guess what, 0 Mercury. I think you’re right. There was an issue on their side.

I think I have some sps or montipora eating. Nudibranchs. I’ve noticed some tissue die off near the base of some of the sps. I’ve never had to deal with this and am worried it will spread and take all the sps out.

I plan to remove all the sps do an intensive longer dip (15 minutes) and scrub near the base and inspect for eggs. Will do this once every 3 days for two weeks. Hoping to stop them from spreading.

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Do you have a wrasse? A lot of wrasses will eat pests.

I am hoping to get a wrasse in the coming weeks. Was thinking of a sixline or a leopard. Any thoughts?

Six-lines become Hellions. Leopards are delicate and have a hard time going through acclimation. If you have enough sand I would go for a Yellow Canary Wrasse, a beautiful fish. Go for the tank-raised ones at Blue Zoo Aquatics. Although they are wild bred they are caught as juveniles and tank raised for quite some time in captivity. It is a process and time frame that goes well past quarantine. They are quite a bit more hardy at this point than the ones just plucked from the ocean. I think they would be worth the extra money. They say you get what you pay for and that includes hardiness.
