Red Sea reefer owners? I'm Worried

The small foam mat attached to the stand that sits between the tank and the stand. I just noticed mine is squished in the front but not the back causing the tank to lean forward. Is anyone else's like this? I'm starting to get really concerned that I may have a failure or something. The tank is probably about an 1/8-1/4" off and it use to be nearly perfectly level. The tank still seems level. It's literally this may being compressed in the front of the tank that's throwing it off. I realized this when my right door didn't look right since the top gap was nearly non existent. Would you guys panic?

I wouldn't panic but I would consider setting up some temp holding containers and draining the tank to fix the issue. Otherwise you'll never sleep at night! Plus it might be time for a new aquascape!

Wow now that ive looked, im in trouble here myself. Would it be wise to shim the tank filled with water?

Probly couldn't even shim a 20g while it's full of water. I didn't use that matting for my 200g.

Drain it and shim or do nothing. I wouldn't worry much unless it's bowed glass. Flat glass wouldn't worry me.

Its rimless and bows about 1/4 in the center, both front and back panes since day 1
Just measured it bows 1/8 in the center, leans 1/4 foward. And this is everyone that i have spoken with, that owns a red sea reefer so far. I honestly dont think its much of an issue but its troublesome

The stand is level in my case the best I can see. The mat is just crushed in the front of the tank. It's hard to get a pic but it gradually crushes from the back forward. I don't see any bowing in the glass but it's def about 1/8-1/4 leaning forward. I don't think draining and shimming it to make the stand crooked is going to help the structural integrity. I don't know what to do but my instinct is to just leave it. I just have a lot invested in livestock with no current back up. But it does really suck worrying and thinking about it

Bump. Any update on this? I observed the same on my RSR XL525. Dead level on setup and initial fill. After about a month, the compression pad deformed unevenly like you describe on one front corner leading to a barely uneven front-to-back on that one side of the tank. Still level side-to-side.

Same here, Reefer 250.. I'm concerned if this is okay or not in the long run. Tank has been up for a bit more than a year, and was almost perfectly level when started. Now it's probably 2-3 mm off front to back because of the foam crushed more at the front. I guess it's because the stand doesn't have a support at the front?

Didnt even realize that until you said something... mine is definitely squashed as well... there is 1/16” difference on the foam pad from fromt to back on my xl 425...

Mine does the same thing and has only been up and running for less than a month. The only thing I can possibly think that would cause this is the fact that about 3/4inch of glass hangs off the front of the stand with no support and you have the weight of the glass and also water weight pushing it forward.

I don’t have a Red Sea Reefer, but would say that this is the reason the pad is there in the first place. If things were perfect, you wouldn’t need the pad. If we assume the tank is 22” tall, there is only approximately 3/4lb per square inch of tank bottom...not too bad. I wouldn’t panic.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but my tank does the same thing. Is this common for all red seas? Has anyone's tank been like this long term with no problems?

I believe it’s just because it’s helping to level the tank itself out. Water as we know is always level, and if the container it’s in isnt you risk pressure points. The Mat underneath distributes the weight, and helps the tank sit level on the stand preventing those critical pressure points. I’d either leave it be, if it’s not too bad, or take a level to the stand. If it’s leaning too much drain and shim.

Any advice? Leave it alone and let the new grove form? The 525 has been up for 3 months maybe?...350 was up for a year.

You did see how old this thread is didn’t you? The OP posted this in Oct 2016...

to fix it, empty as much water as possible and relevel it. Not fun.. but best thing to do.

Also, check your water level top corner to corner. If the tank is level at top your fine.

My reefer 350 is like that. Too the point where a bit of the back corners no longer touch the pad, they did when it was new and leveled before adding water. It's due to the floating edge. I'm uncomfortable enough I never finished setting it up. I will be building a new stand out of steel and using the original as storage
