Some nice upgrades- especially the leveling feet. I like the idea of the adjustable sump level and refugium, but I agree with others comments- the location of the return pump will be a pain to service and see clearly. I still prefer the layout of the original for the 425xl.

Why did they change the stand to plywood and add leveling feet only to those two models? And why change to plywood at all?

just ordered the 750 xxl and the leveling feet for stand has been on site since release.. if mine doesnt come with them im screwed.

Does anyone have an actual picture of the new 425xl stand or sump or Ato container? Anyone gotten one yet.... would like to see a build of one.

I can confirm that if your shipment (RSR 250) is coming from the Houston warehouse in the US then you will get a V3. I attached a picture of the sump and plumbing that I got.

I'd say it's about 2.5 +\- gallons right now. So I don't think that an increase

I have an inbound one (525xl) from saltwateraquarimum.com. Hoping for a v3, but my fish will just be happy to get out of the little 29 they are stuck in due to stand issues on a 72bow front that I retired.

Definitely let us know if you get a v3.

I also have one inbound from Saltwater Aquarium. No clue about the version 3. UPS was s'pose to deliver last Thursday. So far it's only made it halfway across the country.

Which area have people been using as the refugium: the one in the front next to the socks or the one in the back? It seems that it would make sense for the refugium to go in the larger one in the back and the skimmer in the compartment in the front, but then the skimmer will block the sock tray when it comes time for cleaning. thoughts?

Good question. I assume the section that has the adjustable water height is where you would want to put the skimmer. For me (250 V3), I have the section in the front setup for the refugium and the section in the back is where I put the skimmer. See attached (please excuse the cable mess, I'm working on that now).

Looking at the specs for the 525 XL Version 3 sump at the start of this thread, the refugium/skimmer would hold 20 gallons. That would give you 10 gallons for the fuge. Kinda small, looks like they did the simplest fix to having both.

Just got mine. It's not a version 3, however the tank got busted up in transit, so maybe they send me one when they ship a new one.

sorry to hear about the tank... hopefully the replacement comes quickly.

Got mine, 525v2. I. Willing to bet the reason they are on sale is to get rid of stock. Mine showed up interesting, but all looks good so far...

That looks good so far? lol.

That's the same guy that delivered mine. You must be in Virginia?

I'm putting a single baffle in 7 inches before the return. Got a small skimmer. It will give me a 10.5 gallon refugium.

I'm in Leesburg too. That tank is heavy, 250+. When you moving it? You need either four people, glass lifters and/or a hand truck. I have my broken one on a hand truck right now trying to decide what to do.
