Red Sea Tank OR Custom Made Tank?

That’s completely a matter of preference and budget. I have a Gen 2 625 XXL and I love it. Zero problems in the 8 months it’s been up and running.

I use mostly Red Sea gear (ReefMat, 300 skimmer, ReefLED 90s and the ReefWave 45) and though I have had a few issues with those, they’ve been pretty solid too.

I have two redsea tanks a 170 and a 300 G2 I love the tanks and the ease of assembly. That being said I would not purchase one of their larger tanks.

You can customize plumbing with a custom tank which imo is fantastic, plus do some more research on RS tank failure, personally, I don't think I will trust RS tanks in the foreseeable future...

It's not like your saving money from buying a Red Sea Tank. They are very expensive so why take the chance.

Honestly we love our Red Sea its easy to setup and customer services is great. People just like to complain for complaining sake. It wouldn't be a popular brand if it was not reliable and trusted, nor would they be as expensive as they are if people did not buy them. The real question is are you wanting something that is one of a kind in creation or something that is a little more "cookie cutter." Up to you we wanted something simple and beautiful and Red Sea does a great job.

You must be Red Sea's undercover damage control guy. Nobody, at this point would attest to the virtues of the Red Sea tank. The failures are way too many and in way too short of a time. It's a bad product. Even the new series is busting seams, in the same places.

I went custom but I guess it would also depend on who’s doing the custom . Red Sea or custom , that’s a good question . Maybe if you ....nope that won’t work . You could just ..... no no no. I don’t know . I’m so confused !!! Anyone got a coin to flip ?

Honestly my wife and I are not the "undercover Red Sea guy" maybe we are just lucky. Either way everyone has an opinion we have thought about going custom when we get a bigger tank though that is due to wanting a huge in wall tank. We also have been running an experiment with the AI blades and people do not like those either, though our corals and overall tank life is doing amazing. I think it comes down to what everyone's personal wants are. We like Red Sea however, I can see the appeal in custom.
