Beamswork light.
I give up. It just won't go away no matter what I do. Lights, no lights, skimmer no skimmer chemicals no chemicals. Guess I just live with it

yeah im just frustrated cause i was talked into buying chemicals, which did nothing on the first dose, in fact i noticed new patches growing. so i turned off skimmer and took out carbon and dosed again 48 hours later. nothing. now ive turned my skimmer back on and its just going nuts…. what a waste of time and money.

Back when I had T5's, while programming a sunrise/sunset lighting, I had an outbreak of cyano. Spoke to the LFS and was advised 2 things:

1: Lights has been on for more than 8 hours, fixed with a timer.

2: I was recommended to get Two Little Fishes GFO media.

Since then I have not had any issues with either Cyano or any other bacterial or algae related problem.

You also have to give it time if you've added a cyano remover chemical and do water changes to completely eliminate it.

Try this it works very well but you have to follow the Directions to a T this is pretty powerful stuff.

ultralife red slime remover works very good as well. However, if you don't solve the underlining prob it WILL come back...

Yea the Chemiclean is good stuff. That's the one I've used in the past and it works very well.

Just make sure to do a water change afterwards per the instructions or it will come back.

Also, as mentioned above, you really need to solve the underlying problem, otherwise it will come back again and again.

Out of curiosity how old are your bulbs? I opened a thread on this topic maybe 2 weeks ago and my problem is now solved. What kind of water are you using? If rodi have you checked your Tds lately?

I had a red slime and it took three does before it died. I was also actively scrapping and sucking it off as I didn't want it dead and floating around in my tank.

Hey Dana, which Beamswork are you using? Do you like that unit also? Just curious.

Hey sorry I missed a bunch here.
I used the ultra life red slime remover. I turned my skimmer back on after a day but it looks like it had just started to work before I did that. Maybe I'll try again in a week.
Reeding, the beamswork I use the the marine one. 160 .2 watt LEDs. I have z fowlr tank so I really couldn't say if it's good for keeping anything. The light is good but I would have preferred more blue. I got the optional timer which is nice. Overall it's a well build solid unit.
