any update? have you identifies the strain? looks like Callithamnion

I never did identify the strain. I have upped my cleanup crew with some more variety to see how that does. Was down to mostly trocheus snails and a few mexican turbos and astreas. Turbos seem to eat it but not all the way to the rock. Also trying a pencil urchin. Wanted to add a couple tuxedo urchins but were out of stock.

It doesn't seem to affect anything, just a little unsightly.

I am fighting something similar, did you ever make any progress?

Not much progress. The turbos keep it short but dont completely remove it. Need to try some other urchins but haven't yet.

Bummer, ive been fighting this stuff for about 4 years now, same results. Turbos keep it in check but there is still quite a bit of it... I have a hard time getting super motivated to blow the whole tank up over it as the stuff isn't super ugly or aggressive.

I won't blow the tank up over it. My fish and corals are doing great and as you said not that ugly or aggressive. Maybe some day the corals will be large enough I won't even notice it
