I've been using BRS 2-part for a couple years. Its good stuff. It mixes clean and its affordable.

I didnt use any bottled product for seeding it, I just had a few rocks from my last tank that I tossed in the sump when I set it up.

very new to the QT stuff and have a question for you.

If the fish look 100% good do you still dose with anything ? or just leave them in the tank for 6 weeks and monitor? The reason I ask is that I have some engineer goby's that I have just put in my fist QT tank. The LFS held them for me for 2 weeks so I could make sure they where eating etc.. The have now been in my QT tank for almost a week eating and happy as can be.. Not sure if I should put any meds in the water to help with any parasites' i may not see? or just let them go another 5-6 weeks in QT to see if any outbreaks?

I am no expert at QT either. I follow @Humblefish procedures for QT. They are treated in copper and metroplex followed by prazi. I’d rather pre treat all fish to make sure there is no dormant disease present. For example fish can carry ick with no signs and can infect others or themselves later

looks like pretty simple for my Gobies as they do not do well with copper since they are scale less...

The biggest challenge to quarantining these is preventing them from jumping out. They also sometimes carry intestinal worms + internal flagellates.

QT strategy: Use a tight fitting lid over the QT, ensuring even small openings are made secure. (Gobies can wiggle through tight spaces.) Once they are eating, soak their food with API General Cure for 10-14 days. This will eliminate any internal issues. Seachem Focus can be used to bind the medication to the food.

Great build! Thanks for sharing!! Now that you had it for awhile still happy with the S-1000? What is the one thing you love the most about it? If you could change one thing on it what would it be?

Had to leave my custom tank behind for a job move and get ready for something new - contemplating the s-1000…..

Thats a tough question. As far as what I love most id probably say the split sump. Being able to have my fuge totally separate from all my other equipment is super nice. I dont get algae growth all over the rest of the sump and equipment. If I had to pick something to change I would think the plumbing, it would be nice if it was easier to add a manifold or additional equipment.

Second that. How's the flow through your fuge? It's pretty minimal on my setup... like not enough to get the chaeto moving.

Pretty low flow through the fuge but it’s not proven to be an issue for growth

Love this build so far! Following along for the ride. Im planning on getting one of these tanks this year also, what are you seeing power consumption wise? curious if i need to have an electrician upgrade the circuit before the tank is ordered.

Everything is plugged into Apex outlets so I can see the full system power consumption and monthly cost

Thats surprising... I mapped out all the equipment id be running and came up with about 20 amps running a 1200 watt heater, 4 radion xr30's, skimmer, etc (about 5 amps more with a chiller).

Here is the current draw. Peak load is during the day whenever the heaters are running

Tonight I’m going to be pulling most of that off leaving just the reefwave and a heater installed in the 75 to keep the fish happy and healthy. I need to get the return installed to start clearing up the water and to help mix the salt in.
