Reducing nitrates after cycle without big water change?

My ammonia has been reading "zero" on the API for a few days, about a week on Salifert.

You may still have elevated nitrites. It can easily take more than a week for them to drop. If your nitrites are elevated, the nitrate test kit will report that nitrate is very high. I don't know the number, but high enough to make you think you need to do something when you really don't. It wouldn't hurt to check. Again, patience is the key. Slow down. Happy reefing.
