Reduck's Cad SAIO 75g build

Wow, very beautiful harlequin. I can not keep any shrimp in my tank. They just disappeared in less than a week. don't know why.

Have you checked at night with a red flashlight? They are pretty nocturnal.
Or some other predator in your tank is getting to them?

I've thrown down the gauntlet on my aptasia problem. Added a known aptasia eating filefish yesterday. It's out of control. While aptasia-x may work on small outbreaks, I'd need a gallon. Never had this issue when I had peppermint shrimp, but they went rogue and started eating corals. So they had to leave. I also tried a copper band butterfly but my yellow tang wouldn't leave it alone.

So it's come down to the filefish. So far, he's getting along with the others. Keep your fins crossed!
It's not going to fix it overnight. But I am hoping he gets fat and happy eating all those little pests.

You can also try kalk mix with voka and vinegar and then inject the paste to aptasia mouth. It worked for me.

Too much there to attempt. If the fish doesn't eat them I may give it a go but I'd have to do one section at a time. Just too many to do in one treatment. I actually broke down and hit a few of the larger ones yesterday that were on one of the clamshells and around other corals.
I have to give the filefish a shot. He's acclimated well and is cruising the tank nose down eyeing it all up. Can't wait for him to start chowing down!

Let me know if he starts eating the aptasia. Fish is strange.

Appears he is eating at it. I witnessed him nose diving the bed and the rocks last eve. I will know better on the weekend when I am home to witness full lights up.
Hes also eating pellets...

This filefish is knocking it out of the park! Started looking yesterday afternoon and he's put quite a dent in the aptasia population!
He's getting along very well with his tank mates too. Eating nori, pellets and frozen readily.
I think he's a winner. I'll keep him well fed so he stays away from the corals now.
Wow. Just amazed.

Consider yourself a luck. You should go out and buy a lottery. If you won. remember to share it to me. LOL.

Update - 0 Nitrates. Yuk. Phosphates out of control.
Starting to dose Stump remover today.

At least my aptasia is gone...

Bright side to everything....

Checking in after a long time. I am starting to see a few aptasia in my tank as well. I like filefish a lot so I wanted to see where you purchased yours and maybe you can share a nice shot of the little guy. Also curious for an update on whether he has eaten anything you don't want him chowing down on.

I'll catch a shot of him tomorrow during the light cycle. I have not seen him nip at anything other than food. If you see a few aptasia, you got more you can't see yet.
I got him from Mark at Ultimate Corals. Originally on loan. Then my wife fell for him so he's staying. With Marks permission of course. He was a known aptasia eater. From what I've read most are, but if not fed well, they'll eat coral.
He eats well. Loves pellets and nori and frozen. And he's fun to watch.

Off to start my stump remover dosing project! Hope this gets me back in balance!

Do I get to see this in person Monday? I won the fmk on ebay

First dose of stump remover. Randy's formula. 35ml. Noticeably better polyp extension. Scolys brightened. Going to hit it again in a few hours then test later today. Hoping for at least 1ppm. If not I'll continue this regimen till I figure the uptake out.
