wwc must be kicking themselves right now. I mean if they sold all their bounce stock.

WWC can easily acquire more Bounce mushrooms.

They do a lot of trading with hobbyists and other vendors.

Was kinda interesting, after the initial rush, the WWC and Jasonfox stands were kinda dead, people were at the other stands. Maybe they sold all their really good stuff at Macna?

Reefers Cove had a huge bounce.

All Delight had like a 2 inch bounce but was asking over 1,000$

Reefers Cove had the Bounce in question and he purchased from myself before Macna, it was a perfect specimen that was covering a 4" frag tile when open and the balls were the size of quarters. I acquired this bounce as a 3/4" frag from World Wide Corals 2 years ago at the Ft. Lauderdale Macna in trade for a GO Pro Camera and never cut it. Jorge brought the beautiful piece to show off and draw attention to his booth and priced it high as he did not want to sell as it was his favorite piece. It was sold for his asking price to a collector and I witnessed the amount, there was no dealing. I do not understand the craze, but there are people willing to pay for the Best of the Best. I also sold my Bio-hazard Bounce to the same guy for $1800 that was about 2.5" and I brought it just because of the Bounce craze. I can say that every penny I made went back into the hobby and I picked up some very nice corals from many vendors at the show. Everything is for sale at a price and if someone who has disposable income is happy with his purchase no foul. Collectors in every hobby and those with thick wallets usually get what they want. I myself am happy growing out the baby it left about a year ago so Big bounce little brother should be grown up in a few years. There were pictures taken at the show, but they do not do it justice as it was the absolute perfect piece of coral. Jorge does owe me dinner as he told me he would never sell it:)

I agree, I don't fault any seller trying to get top dollar for their coral. More power to them. It isn't price gouging as it's not a necessary commodity to live. If you have the money to spend $6k on a coral, then I salute you.

Awesome! Thanks for providing so much information! As for coral pricing- I don't think there's such thing as a right or wrong way to do it.

Also, Reefbuilders ran a post on the sale today: http://reefbuilders.com/2015/10/13/bounce-mushroom-sells-record-6000-single-polyp/

Congrats to the buyer for getting a nice coral, thats one nice bounce indeed.

I think as to why there are so many negative response is because now everyone who has babies of the bounce will want 1000 dollars for a head instead of 300-400 which is what the usual trend is after the initial batch of hardcore reefers had acquired their's and it grew babies in their tanks.

To me personally, even if I have millions in the bank, it doesn't mean that I will pay $500 for a big mac sandwich. Maybe its because I am still just a peasant so I think like one. Maybe if someday when I reach bill gate's lvl I will go to macna and pay a vendor 150,000 for a gem tang so I can just make noise and be featured in an article...

end of rant.

To each his own... I thinks it's an ugly coral and would not pay 60.00 for a frag.... It's Freedom, it's America, enjoy :)

There are smarts about some high priced buying. For instance I bought a wwc bounce. It grew to triple its size. I cut it. Now I have two. sell one keep one. Free high end coral!

We also have to remember to some of us, 6k is chump change. California is drippy with money. My friend had an account where they setup a million dollar tank! The door knobs themselves were worth several grand.
