Update:

The wife has agreed to let me have the tank now instead of waiting for Christmas! :bigsmile: Tomorrow I am going to start building my stand as long as everything goes as planned. I have a question for everyone tonight though. I am going to be buying an RODI unit so I no longer have to run to the lfs. I would like to know what RODI units everyone is using. Thanks everyone!

Spectrapure is my opinion. A little more money for filters and such but by far the most PROVEN filters tested. Do some research on their website, it will list all the advantages of going with them.

my brs 5 stage works great havent changed the DI since i got it and still run 0 TDS over a year later.

I use the BRS 5 stage 75gal/day unit and never have had a problem.

Thanks for all the replies guys, the BRS is the one I have been looking at the most. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to start on the stand yesterday. So now it looks as though it will be this weekend before I get started.

I have a question for everyone. Who here, with a rimless tank, puts styrofoam underneath the tank? I have seen a lot of posts where people say that this helps with leveling and also with insulating the tank. Thanks in advance everyone.

Well today has been a great day! I received my 4 stage value plus RODI system from Bulk Reef Supply today. Excellent packaging, more packing peanuts than I have ever seen. I am extremely happy to report that I will be returning it tomorrow...your not going crazy I did say happy....I was unboxing it today and in walk my parents. They immediately inform me that this is what they got me for Christmas. So good news for me, get to return it and get something else now :bigsmile:. I am thinking skimmer or a controller.

That is kind of what I thought. I have been checking out the Hydor slim skim nano. Seems to have great reviews, any one here want to chime in?

Finally got started on the stand today since I have a 3 day weekend. 2x4 frame going to skin it in plywood and dress it up with some trim. Decided to paint it white inside and out. Finishing up tomorrow.

Thanks! This thing is built like a tank (no pun intended). Still trying to decide on what kind of paint and what color to use and if I should use something to seal the paint with like Minwax Polycrylic.
