Upgraded my doser build today, since it’s two channel ,decided to put the pi pwm in actual use.
Build: pi zero, perma proto board, l293d, one lm2596 (for 12v to 5v conversion), two 12v peristaltic pump, 12v 2amp power adapter

Housing : uxcell enclosure , nylon standoff’s

Circuit closeup : I can control the speed, duration and direction of both peristaltic pumps using a single l293d chip. Pi prvoided two pwm input and 4 gpio for direction control . Green wires are pi pwm in, blue are gpio , yellow are doser pwm our

Looks so much better than the old wooden enclosure. I’ll put it to use back again, and let you know how it went. Initial testing are all green. There was a bug in pi pwm, @philshel pointed our earlier, fixed that as well

I think I have all the parts for this, but I'm not sure where to start with the build. Is there a Frizing for this?

Quick question. Ive been running version 1.4 its been up for 4 months!

Its been flawless!!

But now i want to control my heater. I had a thermostat fail.

When trying to control it it doesnt control at the tempature i set above it.

Also trying to setup email alerts i wont sent emails on the tempature i set as well.

Was there a known problem in 1.4? Can i upgrade without setting it all back up again?

you can upgrade to 1.5 without any hiccups, but that will only bring couple of new features (customizable dashboard https://github.com/reef-pi/reef-pi/releases/tag/1.5).
1.4 temperature control should work, if theres a bug I'll fix it (in 1.x series), but lets cross check your setup so that its easier for us to reproduce. Can you give some details about your circuit and reef-pi configuration, screen shot/ build pics will be very useful as well.

regarding the email alerts, are you using gmail? You may have to set up 2 step verification. reef-pi official docs on telemetry assume that.

I've been using a mix of brands. The main one I prefer is PLA+ from 3D Fillies in Australia, but I also get a bit of PLA, PETG and ABS form hobby king because its cheap (and they have free shipping over a certain amount).

I plan to get the .slt files for the Reef-Pi powerboard and brain up in the next 2 days.

I know there is a couple of threads for reef related 3D prints, I 'll find that poll and see if we can get it restarted. Then we can keep this thread a bit more on topic haha

I read the whole thread as it seems to work properly, but what a shock to read about what happened to Donovan on 7 Jan He died while doing his hobby, collecting corals in the Ocean. BTW you made a great 3D solution!

what you did earlier? Without knowing what you did it will be hard to recommend any fix

theres no fritzing file or documentation yet, but this should get you going:
- L293d is the main IC here: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-raspberry-pi-lesson-9-controlling-a-dc-motor/lm293d
- en1 and en2 pins are wired to pi GPIO 18 & 19 ( declare them as jacks with rpi driver in reef-pi)
- IN1, IN2, IN3, IN4 are all connected to other GPIO (declare them as outlets in reef-pi, and create 4 virtual equipment to control them)
- I power the whole build with a 12 v 2 amp dc power source, use an lm2596 to convert it 5v for feeding pi. The 12v rail is also connected to Vmotor pin of l293d. Vcc pin of l293d is wired to 5v rail
- OUT1,OUT2 of l293d is wired to one peristaltic pump (12v, from adafruit), OUT3 & OUT4 powers the other pump
- Thats all, use reef-pi doser ui to create two dosing pumps each attached to one of the jack (PWM pin 0 & 1 in the UI, GPIO pin 18 & 19 in the physical wiring). Dosing UI will let you schedule the pumps to run at specific time (same UI as timer), as well as run them on demand for specific duration at specific speed (calibration). Calibrate the pump to get an understanding of how much liquid its drawing at a certain speed and certain duration. Then decide on the dosing regimen (frequency, duration and speed)
- The virtual equipment (which is controlling en1,en2,en3,en4) is used for controlling on/off or direction of the pumps. If both en1 and en2 is either on or off then the pump will be off. If one of them in on and other is off, then the pump will run. Depending upon which one is on that will control the direction of the pump

your url should be
https://<reef-pi - IP>:80
https protocol defaults to port 443, you just enabled https and but not change the port. Also you are trying to access reef-pi ui over http (since you are not typing https in your browser), so browser expecting plain text data, while reef-pi is actually sending encrypted https data, which browser then confusing as unknow stuff, and just offering it to you as downloadable file.
so, just type https://<IP>:<port> , in your browser and things should work. Change the example with your IP and port (if you have not updated port, it will be 80, if you are using https, i recommend updating the port to 443, which is default, and then you dont have to type port in your browser)
You'll know https is kicked in if you see a warning page in your browser for a new ssl certificate

got it! the :80 fixed it! so i removed the https.

now after i updated to 1.5 my dashboard is blank. it dont have anything there just shows the tabs above.
my ato, lights are working fine though.

recreate those. I think you have to recreate the jack and choose appropriate driver (pca9685 or rpi) first, and then recreate the light using the new jack.

Now for my tempature. It says failed to read temp error only one tempature device expected, found 0
