Well, I just checked my online FedEx delivery manager and it shows two packages from Rick. One that is 1lbs., which I am assuming is the fuge light, has been picked up and is scheduled for Wednesday delivery. Then there is another that is 27lbs., which I assume is my 240, has had a label created but says it has not been picked up yet...I hope it did not get left behind!...lol

I just got my 180 yesterday! I do have a question for everyone. I'm switching out a set of reef breeders that are like the it2040 with the 180 to get better coverage. The coloring between the 2 is slightly different, the reef breeder is more heavy blue/purple, vs the 180 is more natural daylight...and yes this is with all channels power being the same. My question is, would I need to reacclimate my corals to the 180? Due to the different coloring?

Hi Dawguy,

If you mean the Reef Breeders Photon 16 - it is the Evergrow IT2040 - as ReefBreeders buys the Evergrow and puts their name on it. We sell this exact same light - so I am familiar with it. ( of course ReefBreeders has a different layout then we on this light ) There are a whole lot of factors that go into your question -however in absence of an PAR meter - I would take a picture of your tank with the Evergrows over it and when you mount the LUMENTEK lights - match that apparent intensity visually - then back down 10% and watch your coral and raise it 5-10% weekly until you hit the sweet spot - where the coral are fully extended and colorful - and shown no signs of stress - and hold it there.

One of the biggest challenges we face as hobbyists is trying to change lighting - since light is the " food " that the photosynthetic algae that live in your coral need - this is somewhat like trying to improve your personal nutritional regimen - without knowing what you ate before. I know as I was a Certified Nutritionist for 20 years and know how difficult this would be.

I always suggest getting PAR values throughout your tank and then simply match your new lights to this and you coral will respond very well.

In absence of a PAR meter - like the Seneye PAR meter - I would follow my directions above and you will be fine.
