Roland I have 2 dm155e that are currently on my 40x 36 x 22 tank they won't cover that large of a space but I had spoken to rick and was aware of it up front. They will no doubt cover a 90. I was going to buy radions for the new build which is a 90 but only because I wanted to control them . I ordered the parts today to upgrade my lights to apex control. This light is very bright . I had a 400 w halide and these bleached a hammer until I dialed it back now it coming back around

May I ask what optics you went with and how high you're hanging it - I have a 36x36 tank and was thinking I would like to swap out the optics on the rb's and whites to 60* to get a little more par for sps, but keep the colored at 120*. Or should I stick with the optics they come with?

I emailed rick this morning for his opinion but would like some of yours as well

Hey Rick,

I can say that after 3 or so weeks I have had zero issues with the new controller. In fact, I've almost forgotten the controller is even there because the light works exactly the way I want it to and I never have to check the controller.

I have received my lumentek 240 today. It's a solid fixture. However u have some questions. I swapped to this from a 4 light t5ho fixture with ati bulbs. Everyone says start the intensity low? I'm under 50% for safety but it seems very dim , even at the top of my tank It looks like my t5 had more light output. Is it safe to ramp it up to maybe 75% or higher so I can get the look I want? Also my remote controller does not work. Maybe a dead battery?

Otherwise I have never seen my corals pop with so much color when I put the blues on!

I'm still debating on whether I should get a 6 bulb t5 or give this guy a chance. I do like the tune ability tho! Definitely awesome

Be careful. LEDs put out much more power then you think without looking bright like t5s. Most people make the same mistake with LEDs and end up frying their coral. Be patient and see how they do before you crank them up. In a standard 75 gal with the lights 11" off the water, I'm getting par over 200 on the sandbed. This is an unadjusted number, straight off the apogee display so te adjusted number is 15-20% higher. This is with the led channels at 60 whites and 65 blues.

Be cautious during this transition period

What has worked well for me is choosing a program....set it...and leave it alone! Your corals will speak for themselves. Here is a great link to a couple of programs you can try. Personally I started with the 30min/8hr and am now using the 10min/10hr but have lessened the max intensity a bit.

I have the dm55e's with moonlights that replaced my 4 buld t5 with ati bulbson my 90 gal. when i 1st put it on, i put the lights on 100% for about 5 minutes just to see how bright they were and they didn't seem as bright as my t5. it has now been 2 months and i am only at 55% blue and 35 white and my corals seem to love it already, and now that my eyes adjusted to the lights, you can tell they are a lot brighter tan t5's. listen to what everyone is telling you, adjust it slow so you don't fry your corals. in a wee you will be saying they are brighter.

I just received my Lumentek 120's and I noticed that they have to power connections on top, but only one power cord was included. I'm assuming you can use either connection? Or is it supposed to have two power cords? Also, I didn't get any instructions on how to set it up, is there any info online for it? Thanks.

I just used the plug closest to my outlet. The light works good. As far as tuning it. If you want the daily swing go to custom. And after every time you program an hour or time period hit save and do the next time. As you move on you'll notice that the lights go off.. set the next time period to wanted brightness.. hit save n so on. It does take a wile

Maybe better instructions should be included? I was frustrated with it. Even if their just printed on regular paper. Just to help us out. I'm still not sure if the day times/moons/cloud cover settings are automatic or if I have to turn them off manually. Dire tons included are equal to switching the the menus on the light for 5 minutes.. not really help

I just got my Lumentek 240 for my 120 (4x2x2 tank).

First off, this thing is ridiculous. This is my first real lighting system and I feel like a kid in a candy store.

That being said, I find myself with a ton of questions I would love some guidance on:

1) I found this program spreadsheet earlier in the thread. I was surprised that the intensity never exceeds 50% (if I am reading it right)?

2) The lights do look really **** bright. I left my lights on last night in the stock 'Moon' Mode and I came down today at 5:30am to find my fish swimming like it was the middle of the day. I assume that the stock Moon mode is too bright?

3) I've been playing with height over the tank a bit. What exactly am I going for in terms of coverage? The stock Sunlight mode is so bright that it's hard to really tell coverage - so I looked at the light when moon mode was on and it seems like it's hitting 80% of my rock, but not the far sides/sand along the edge. Am I right that I need to go higher?

4) It seems like having a period of time with a blackout is good... this program seems to suggest no lights from 9pm to 9am... which seems to defeat the purpose of moonlights?

the program is only showing intensity settings for CH 1 and Ch 2 sunrise to sunset, you can set Ch 3 moon lights too come on before and after ie 1 hour before on 8am, run 1hour after off 10pm. experimenting with mine also, to determine if i want the moon lights on thru the sunrise sunset cycle, maxing out at 50% then tapering down to a lower % and staying on for an hour after ch1 and ch2 are off,or have them go off when SR starts and back on at SS decisions decisions, all depends on what the eye and coral can agree on

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. For some reason I was thinking Moon light and blue channels were the same.

Is there a certain amount of time that corals/fish need/like to be totally blacked out? I'd love to have moons on until midnight and then back on again at 5am - but not at the expense of their happiness.
