Reef Radiance led light..OMG..What a light....

I'm currently running my Lumentek 120 for 12 hours with 10 min intervals with whites maxing at 30% and blues at 50%. I have the light holder because I can't hang from ceiling so my light is only 4 inches from the waterline. The tank is 24x24 with a 20 inch depth. Do you think the intensity is two much based upon the height of the light?

Moon lights ramp up to 60%first hour, stay at 60% all day while ch 1and 2 go through sunrise to sunset then ramp down to 0% during last hour after sunset

anyone heard from rick or anyone I sent a PM and an email have not heard back in a week. Have a new tank coming trying to get some info if I need an upgrade

I actually spoke to him today. He sounds busy. If his knee surgery was anything like my back surgery I know functioning for any long periods of time was rough. I would have periods of alert consciousness untill the pain got to bad and then it was off to lala land again.

I have my moons set to come on at 40% lights out. Then ramp down every 10min from 7:00pm till 10pm.

On another note: I'm loving how my Bi-Colored Blenny is reacting to the ramping of the lights. As they slowly ramp down I can see him getting ready to settle in for the night. He becomes less active, sticking closer to his home rock. During the day he's all over the tank picking at the rocks. This is so cool to watch.
With my T5's is was just blink on blink off. Boom!! It's blackout, probably freaks a fish out.

Wow. Great minds definitely think alike. I also have a Bicolor blenny in my tank. Wait...are you copying my build? LoL

So you have Ch 1 and Ch 2 ramp up/down via the 10-hour schedule and then have Ch 3 come on from 40% to 0% over a 3-hour period? (In other words, Ch 3 moonlights are ONLY on for those three hours?)

Thanks!

What kind of intensity should I be playing to make sure I penetrate through 19" of water. I have a Lumentek 180 over a 57 gallon rimless. I used the hanging kit so I can mess with the high but right now it's about 8" above the water line. And I think my max intensity right now is 40-50%... Does anyone have their light further away from the water and still good lighting to the bottom of the tank by hanging the light higher?
I mean it seems like common sense if I'm running 40% 8" above the water in theory I should be able to raised the light a couple inches and raised the intensity and still get same result right?? Unless I'm missing something in the scientific aspect of things?

has anyone developed a spreadsheet with the 10 minute intervals? Or a true 12 hour cycle?

also, why would we only have our highest intensity for 30 minutes? would it not be better for coral growth to have this intensity for a longer period of time?

Search this thread, there are multiple spreadsheets.

My lights are 11" off water in a 75 gal standard. I was cooking sps 8" off the sandbed at 65/75

I fried a green slimer on an area that read 300 on a par meter. These lights pack some punch. Granted, I have full coverage with 2 lumentek 180s across a 4' tank, but still....impressive power from these units

this weekend i am installing a Lumentek 240 above my 32" wide tank. I currently have a Dm132 in the middle na d apair of 120 watt Blue/white china LEDS on either side. Lots of light, too much spillage into the room. hopefully i can borrow our club's par meter this weekend to ensure I am getting good light. Goal is 200 par on the bottom glass in my 20 inches of water.

Ime that was too high. Par meters and LEDs are not that great of a combo like they are with other light sources. I ended up frying a few acros aiming for that traditionally accepted par numbers.

My buddy's sps tank with LEDs grew corals like crazy at par readings around 150 at the middle level of a 90 gallon

Just my experiences
