Reef raft Orange Passion Placement for best coloration

My SC was really slow at first (didn't help that when it started initially encrusting I accidently broke it at the base and dropped it on the floor, had to reset) but it's seems to be moving quick know. Quick enough that everyday when the light comes on it I see new growth that wasn't there yesterday.

Thanks, that's encouraging!

Yep, that is how mine is. When I took a frag off it a few months back the new branch caught up to the rest of the colony in no time, crazy fast!!!

Here is my RRC OP in daylight and blue led. Its grown quite a bit and looks much better now as i've been dosing acropower every day automatically the last month and a half, really colored it up much more intense. I keep it under ati 8x80w sunpower with 6 t5's and 2 blue plus E5's. (500ish par)

I think the colors on the RR are more pastel-y if you get what I'm trying to say lol....

Here is a pic of my RR Asia OP. I think it is the same or very similar to the SC, maybe nicer in most regards. This is early in it's growth, under MH, T5 and Reefbrites, showing very strong blue coloration.

As it developed, the blue turned a little lighter and maybe a shade toward purple and started putting much more energy into its green base and orange polyps. It is up high under pretty intense lighting.

well here is my reef raft orange passion as of now .. currently placed it in High light high flow :)

Sc Orange passion and the RR CA Orange passion are identical... RR Asia Orange passion ( which mine and yours is) gets a purple base with bluish green body and orange polyps.

yup as i see it .. yours is in similar colors to mine but in a more intense way .. may be i should up my nutrient levels :)

and sure i like yours more than the SC Orange passion which is just blue and orange.

what is not ;) the walt disney also looks soo dull and pastel under whites but the colors of it under Blue hmmmm ..

Updated daylight pic of RR CA OP. It has started to get more blue in the tips and the tips are showing orange or yellow PE, pretty nice piece and a good grower once settled in. Likes high light.

Very nice close up to show what we should expect to see. Are the polyps suppose to get more orange/yellow?

The larger it gets the bluer the new growth gets and the more orange comes out in the polyps. Also the yellow polyps just started a month ago.

The issue is t5 vs mh vs led will all give you diff colors, as well as alk variances and intensity. So it's tough to say what the correct color is. I've seen some bland in daylight that look great in blue led and then some that look bland in either daylight or blue led.

Also remember how much corals can and do morph depending on lighting and chemistry . Take two of the exact corals put them in two separate systems and you could get two corals that look alike or two corals you would swear we're differnt all together.

How long does it take for the orange to start showing in the polyps?

When I got it last month it was a greenish grey blob

1 month later and it's green with blue tips. There is a slight yellow to the polyps under royal blue leds, but that's it.

Also, just got a SC OP yesterday. I'm interested to see how fast this one colors up/ grows compared to my RR OP
